I wrote my college essay about my curly hair...

and I got into my first choice university!

:)My struggle has not been in vain! :toothy7:
3a/3b mix of ringlets and spiral curls
BWC Rosemary Mint Tea Tree Conditioner,
Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner,
***Aloe Vera Gel***
Simplicity is best, at least for my hair. I co-wash every two days or so with the BWC and use the AOHR as a rinse-out when I need moisture. On other days, I just water wash, and I use AV gel every day to style. I air-dry and don't brush or comb my hair.

That's so funny...when I was a senior, my friend and I joked about writing our essays about curly hair, but neither of us actually did. I bet your essay was great, congrats on getting your first choice!

Thanks, guys! It took me a lot of editing and re-writing to make it into something a *little* bit more than my own vanity speaking. I can PM it if anyone wants to read.

Wow...I just realized that I'm not getting the notifications in my email of new posts anymore. Anyone know where I can select that option? I had to search for this thread to see if anyone had responded.

Congratulations CurlyCasey!!!:occasion7: Best of lucks!!! I would love to read your essay! PM me if it's ok and I'll send you my address.

Oh, I think you have to subscribe to threads to get notification now. You do that on the bit at the top of the thread, like this: First click on Thread Tools and then on bottom option Subscribe to this Thread, then it'll give you the options for email frequency and all that.

    Congrats, that's great!

And that's funny, beucase I was recently thinking about writing my college essay on my curly hair journey...it would certainly be unique (well not anymore lol) But I was afraid it will sound too vain and self-absorbed. I would actually love to read your essay if you would be so kind as to PM it to me....and don't worry, I would NEVER copy it or anything like that!

Thanks for all your support! I PM'd it to a bunch of you--let me know if you didn't get it and still want to read.

I'm going to major in Interior Design and minor in Sociology, in case anyone has any experience with either of these majors. I wish I was already on my way! Although, I will miss my parents. It's not too far away; I'm going to Suffolk University in Boston.

Loved your essay. Thanks for sending it.
I too was bald as a baby.
Not because I was born with no hair, but because my older sister, who hated me from the moment I was born, would rub my head so hard I ended up bald. But when my hair finally was able to show it's face, it put her scraggly straight hair to shame!! : )

Awww, you're all so sweet! Seriously, though, I spend more time thinking about my hair than anything else (okay, besides clothing, food, boys, etc...) and I couldn't think of anything that could possibly be better to write about. It's so hard to think of important topics when you've only been alive for 17 years!

You're so lucky that you didn't have to write an essay. Getting into college these days is a strenuous process, and I'm just glad that I applied early. Admittedly, Suffolk isn't the most difficult school to get into, but it's got a lot of wonderful programs and they gave me a small scholarship because my GPA is higher than their average. I just can't wait to pick classes that I actually want to take. I'm hoping to do environmentally and economically friendly design. My sister says I should design eco-friendly coffee shops that make you bring your own re-usable mug. :laughing7:
