Product free used to work for me... but it doesn't anymore. That doesn't really help, I know, but I'm not sure why it stopped working for me either. Sorry!

Are you talking no styling product?

Sometimes going without product works. Other times it looks like Bozo the Clown has nothing on me.

Or are you talking not using even a leave-in conditioner or botanical oil?

I have to use an oil or leave-in! Otherwise see the above statement about the clown hair.

I got pretty close to product-less tonight. I just left in some SheaM and scrunched in some Set it Free. Result is on my fotki... I'm pretty impressed.

I started by cutting out leave-in (I never used gel). The leave in conditioner obviously did a lot for my hair so when I stopped using it my hair would get really big and dry but after a while it got better and I felt like my hair produced its own leave in conditioner. Then I stopped using rinse out conditioner (I never really shampooed). I realized there was no difference in my hair whether I used it or not. I now dont put anything but water in my hair and its never looked better.

Oh, I meant no products at all once I stepped out of the shower.

Occasionally I've done a DT in the evening then just let it dry with nothing in it, it's a sight to behold (and not a pretty one). I could never leave the house productless under any circumstances, in fact I don't even feel comfortable IN the house productless!

Depends on the weather. For the past few weekends, I've been going productless at least one day (nothing other than conditioner) and once it was not bad at all, once it went horribly wrong, and a third time was so-so. For me, using [buylink=]Rockin' Ringlets[/buylink] and [buylink=]Confident Coils[/buylink] ensures that I'll have predictable, better-behaved hair, and DEFINITELY less frizz.

Call me naive, but I think that my hair is still in a recovery phase. My suspicion is that as it gets healthier, I will be able to go productless without the threat of frizz. (Please don't burst my bubble. I really wanna believe this.)

I am pretty sure the last time I went without products was...
probably around the time I was in grade 5.
&& occasionally when I was camping but I had some leave-in spray, I think it was Aussie, that I was using at the time, that as soon as I was near my tent... was in my hair.
My hair wouldn't die without product, but I sure as hell would!

No way. I do it inside the house sometimes just to see what it looks like. I actually did go out to get my hair cut today with no product in it. I did have my hair in a ponytail though. I knew if I had gel or anything else in my hair, she would want to wash it and I wasn't trying to do all that.

No! My hair is incredibly fluffy if I don't use product... also, the top layer of hair won't curl as well... but the underside curls into tight ringlets... so with product I have a happy medium.

i hadn't seen my curly hair productless probably for 15 years (if i don't wear it natural, i rollerset) so i was curious to see what it was like. a few days ago i just co washed, didnt leave any product in, and my hair was ridiculous. it got really poofy and didn't curl as nicely, needless to say i got back in the shower and styled afterwards. i too like to think that, once my hair becomes healthier and more moisturized, i won't need to use products...could just be wishful thinking though

Products sucked the moisture out of my hair and made no difference, so I stopped using anything but bucketloads of conditioner. My hair is prone to build-up, so it feels a lot healthier and curlier. Consider it.

Oh I absolutely HAVE to have product. My hair is a ball of frizz without product. It would be nice to go productless, but I don't think that is an attainable goal for me.

I used to get wonderful big hair without product about 7-10 years ago. But now I must use product because my hair looks limp and fuzzy (not frizzy) without it.

I just put a ton of got2b spiked up gel in my hair today (nothing else except a bit of Suave conditioner) diffused a bit, and I'm having a great hair day. I have to use a lot of gel (at least this time of the year) or else my hair gets really frizzy and undefined. :geek:

you know what.. I've been thinking since my last replay in here...
I really don't use any "styling" products except for heat protection and every now and then I use a straightening lotion (which for some reason works 10X better for me than any curl product, possibly cuz I'm a wavy not a true curly girl?)
those 2 and leave-in, and I actually use Hask Placenta hot oil stuff in my hair everytime I get outta the shower.
maybe not a very good routine.... but, it's somewhat been workin for me... lol somewhat.

Yes, actually. Lately I've just been shampooing with the Aubrey Organics, which is very low-poo, then conditioning with the same conditioner, rinsing, getting out of the shower, putting in the Nature's Gate conditioner as a leave-in, and combing it through with a fine-tooth comb. Afterwards I just scrunch it a bit and go. It's been pretty shiny and frizz-free as of late. I never have a problem when I comb my hair if it's wet, even though many people do. I guess using a leave-in conditioner doesn't make my routine exactly product-free, but it almost is. Oh, sometimes I use some Bumble & Bumble spray that my sister bought me if I have frizz on top. I usually shampoo and condition one day, then the next day I just scrub and water wash before I put in the leave-in conditioner. It seems to work.
3a/3b mix of ringlets and spiral curls
BWC Rosemary Mint Tea Tree Conditioner,
    Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner,
    ***Aloe Vera Gel***
Simplicity is best, at least for my hair. I co-wash every two days or so with the BWC and use the AOHR as a rinse-out when I need moisture. On other days, I just water wash, and I use AV gel every day to style. I air-dry and don't brush or comb my hair.

For God's Sake - NO! My hair is just a fuzzy mess if no products are used after pooing and conditioning! Not a good look AT ALL!
