Anyone 3a/3b fine and thick?

Mamacurl3Mamacurl3 Posts: 1,559Registered Users
I'm trying to figure out what my hair is. I think it's maybe 3a (or even some 2b? on the top and around my face), 3b in the back and near the nape of my neck. I'd like a more uniform look, any tips? Also, if anyone has pix of their 3a/3b fine but thick. I usually shape it so it's not so thick. This is it damp with just a cheapy mousse. I soooo need good product.

I'm sorry, I can't help you with your problem, but I wanted to say that I love the picture in your sig. The pinup girl, where did you find that with your name in it?

How can hair be fine AND thick?? I guess I am not up on my definitions...??????
Hair Type: 2B/3A hybrid, I believe. Had it short for about 5 years, and have since let it grow. Layers have brought out the curl...and I haven't gone 'straight' since!

I'm probably not using the right terms, I mean fine as in opposite of course and thick (having lots of hair) opposite of thin. Correct me if I'm wrong I"m still trying to get it all figured out LOL :p So I have hair that isn't course, but I have a lot of it though I think more of it is 3b and some 3a on top and on the sides of my face.

    OK, makes sense!

Yeah, I am fine and thin, too. Most notably at the crown. Hate that! I need volume!

Shell, I wish my hair looked like that when I had it long! It looks ok, but not that great.

    I have fine/thick 3a/3b hair.

This pic doesn't show my hair really well. It was after I got soaked in rain around 4 times that day, so not the best:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/NetG15/With_Matt.jpg

This was showing my eye makeup (my brother's girlfriend had done it) not my hair, but gives a little bit of an idea. I had only about 3 hours sleep and just washed and dumped in some products before running out of the house. I'd also been wearing a goofy holiday headband earlier on the car ride, so that affected my hair as well. My cut's an inverted bob, so very stacked in back, and longer in front.

I think you all have lovely hair! It's nice to see others with similar curls, crazy how many different kinds of us curlies there are.

Kimmie, I think your hair is great, I never would have thought it was thin.

I agree Shell, that's some great 3rd day hair you've got there.

    Aw, y'all are too sweet.

Well, most of the products I use are in my sig.. I wash at night with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-No-Poo-p-53.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacurl-nopoo]Devacurl No-poo[/buylink], condition with OneC, usually I'll rinse and then apply a bit more to the ends as a leave-in.

I tend to rotate through my gels - I use all the ones in my sig and I never use the same gel two washes in a row. I think on the day that pic was taken, I'd chosen Sebastian Hi-Contrast gel on wash day. I tend to rake my gel in, then scrunch with my plopping towel once it's well distributed.

I'd just received my Devasun dryer a few days before the pic was taken, so I'm pretty sure I clipped and diffused the roots, letting the ends dry naturally. Once the ends are dry, I'll gather them up in my slightly damp plopping towel and gently scrunch out the crunch.

I pineapple at night, and believe it or not, my second day hair usually winds up looking better than the first. By the third day I'm starting to feel like my scalp needs washing but my hair still looks okay, as you can see in the pic.

For second & third day hair, I rotate the second day products in my sig depending on what the stray hairs look like. Usually on day 2 I just need a bit of EasyStraight Flat Iron Finish (like CK) mixed with water to smooth down the stray hairs that tend to stick out of my part.

For day 3, sometimes I'm looking a bit dry and add some sweet almond oil to the ends. If my scalp is feeling like it needs some attention, I'll spray some Devacurl Mister Right on my fingertips and rub my scalp a bit. Sometimes it looks great and doesn't need anything, which I think was the case in the photo.

Thanks for the compliments - I've learned a lot by hanging out around here, so y'all deserve the credit, not me! :alien:

I used to have extremely thick (what I mean is lots of hair but the individual strands are a mix of fine and medium) hair. I actually had someone refuse to cut it once because she freaked out about how much there was to cut lol. But since I became ill and had two children it's become thinner. It's hard when your hair is that thick but to be honest you miss it when it's gone.
