Just wondering if anyone here has gone natural more than once. This is my first time since I got my first relaxer at 11.

This is round two for me.

I went natural in 2000 and then fell off the wagon with a great big relaxer in 2002. After transitioning (AGAIN!) I'm back to 100% natural.

i cant even remember how many times i think i transitioned from a relaxer 4 times and i just finished transitioning from a texturizer... i sound crazy i know i always go back to wanting my coils in the end and the texturizer was the last straw...

i think my biggest issue has been not knowing how to style my hair and what products to use to be low maintenance ( i say low maintenance because at one point i went crazy with too many options and my hair was taking over my life ) not wanting straight hair...

but since ive discovered this site and nappturality this last journey has been the easiest and i have figured out whats best for my hair so that its actually the lowest maintenance hair ever... i love my curly fro!!!

    last journey 2005

Oh yeah but like others I didn't realize that there were websites that could help you understnad and deal with your hair. I tried to do the texturizer years ago and that did not work out well. I love this site!

my hair was natural from birth until 18 yrs. then i pressed it while i was in the last two years of undergrad and my first year in the working world, so about 3 years. so from 21 until now i've been natural....

alot of people consider pressing natural though i guess. i've never colored or relaxed my hair. although i have been tempted to color, i've never wanted to relax because i'm chicken BIG TIME. i thought about getting a texturizer/softener for a while, but voted no on that too.

i have done hennalucent clear glosses on myself though.

cute, i have files and files as well. The key is finding the majic buttons for you! And with products it can be addicting! I'm learning that my old basic shea and aloe are really the best things for my hair ...after all those costly bottles of "magic ingredients"

I flat ironed my hair Sat for my big ol birthday celebration.By the time I got home it was a mile long fro. That's ok though, for all that work, i wont be doing it again anytime soon though. But i do prefer it for trimming. I will monitor my hair for cuticle damage. I used the maxiglide-which I hated with my transition hair b/c it's stripped my hair shaft and I had to bc after using. But putiing it on an almost zero setting made a difference. THe steam setting is passed 10 on the dial!!! yikes!!!

    ok, off topic, I diress

3 times is a charm...first relaxer I was around 12 then was natural in 96 got a relaxer again and got a chemical burn on my forehead(it healed but it burned!) cut it all off and never went back...its been 6 years now... but when I think its probably longer *whew* Natural for me. I love having texture.
My hair is fluffy, wavy/kinky with very fine numerous strands.

    Twice.
I grew up natural with my liberal, strong aunt (mommy). She loved my hair though she permed her own and regrets it to this day.
My mom decided my "hair had to look nice for my sister's wedding". I was 9 and my sister was 23. When I went back to my mommy (bio aunt) she lectured me about my hair and its natural beauty. She said I could try to go back and not get the "dry coarse-feeling hair she has to perm" since her first time.

Long story short: I big chopped in NYC for my 13th bday. Everyone except my real friends was very cruel. They called me skinny Macy Gray. I did not know what Macy Gray looked like. I yielded to my Mom's (biological) decision to perm again. Turned 14 and moved permanently to NYC. Got a big scholarship to school in Nashville, turned 17, transitioned.
    Love it.
Cant wait to go back to the DR and be and look like myself.
4a/3c thick, soft, cottony and big when i dont finger coil. oval strands.
