Any 3a's have luck with the 'Curlisto' method?

Just KimmieJust Kimmie Posts: 116Registered Users
It seems promising, but I didn't have the duckbill clips, so I used claw clips...yeah, those don't work. They were too heavy for my hair, and when I tried to remove them, it was a fizzy, tangled mess.

The sectioning for product distribution worked well, though...because the back if my hair looks pretty damn good today!

Any of you other 3a's give this method a whirl??
Hair Type: 2B/3A hybrid, I believe. Had it short for about 5 years, and have since let it grow. Layers have brought out the curl...and I haven't gone 'straight' since!

Haven't tried it but I give you credit for experimenting with it! The videos scared me away -- so many products and steps... just too complicated. Plus, Curlisto products aren't CG so I haven't wanted to use them. Others have reported good results with that sectioning method, though.

Yeah, it's a lot of steps...but, I bought some duckbill clips on the way home and tried again, and it works pretty well!! Need a bit more practice to perfect, I think. Working on getting a pic or two in the fotki...

I don't actually use the Curlisto brand products, though.

Finally loaded a couple pics in the Fotki...

I don't remember what the method is but I'm way too lazy to do more than a little diffusing with a lot of air drying.
I do use part of the batia method though and love it.

Whatever that method involves your hair looks fabulous!

Yep, I can usually get great lift if I'm able to leave the clips in until totally dry. Unfortunately, that usually only happens on the weekends.

Yeah, I don't mind diffusing. I go ahead and tip my head upside down and let 'er rip!

I have to diffuse - unfortunately, I'm still not dry for a few hours even after diffusing for 15 minutes. I'm really thick on the top of my head and if I can leave the clips in for several hours after diffusing, the lift is fantastic -- just can't do that at work, though. Still get pretty good left, though.

Yeah, I tried your clipping method this morning, and it worked great. Seems more logical for root lift to put clips perpendicular to direction of growth. THanks for that!

I'd post pics, but I'm on my way out the door.

YAY! I'm so glad the clipping method worked for you. :toothy7:Since I've been off work for the holidays and have more time to leave the clips in, I've been having great lift on top. Since my top layer is finally growing out more and I do most of my diffusing upside down, I'm finding I need less clips, too.

I just started using Curlisto's starter kit for wavy/loose curls after Christmas. It is working wonderfully for me so far. The products feel absolutely weightless on my hair and I have lots of bounce and shine. I don't use the clips as I have short layers on top with lots of lift and usually air-dry my hair (even if it means going to work with my hair wet). I work for a conservative insurance company and I am sure people look at me funny, but hey...this is my hair we are talking about! I am considering getting a diffuser, however, just to try it out.

Oh, thanks! Yeah, I have layers throughout, top to bottom. It's darn near time for a trim, too...because the top layers of my hair are getting heavy and flatter.

Well, I just tell them I need my layers "relcalibrated". I just grew it out from a super-short all-over layered style (I'll post a couple pics of that in my fotki in a minute)...once it grew out, I just had the same layers trimmed up and have had ever since. My top layers are too long at the moment, though.

Thanks again...yeah, it was fun to have it short for awhile, just for something different and the sheer ease of styling (plus I cut it after I had lost 40 pounds - which I now have back - grrrrr!!)

...but, I'm going the long route for now...although, I just got it cut tonite...about an inch all over...

Your hair is so pretty!! Have you thought about growing it even longer? It would look amazing with the type of curl you have. (You looked great with it much shorter too).

I've been lurking in this forum for months but today is my first post. I was curious about the Curlisto method mentioned in this thread so I went to the site to check it it out this morning. Since it's the weekend, I still had bedhead and decided to give it a try.

Never having used Curlisto products, I made an assumption *gasp*, that [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curly-Hair-Solutions-Curl-Keeper-p-28.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curly-hair-solutions-curl-keeper]Curl Keeper[/buylink] was the same as the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Curlisto-Structura-Lotion-p-115.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=curlisto-structura-lotion]Structura Lotion[/buylink]. I normally put that on in the shower longer before Gel hits my head.

It was quite interesting:scratch: trying to get the sections into clips. Took me about 5 minutes to do all sections. Per the video I pulled down the nape of the neck section first. This section was simple as no other hair was in the mix yet.

After that, I think every section got at least a double dose of product. I felt like had used at least triple the product I normally use. However, it was much more evenly distributed.

My hair does look pretty good today but I don't know whether that's the method or not. As I'm sure it is for the rest of you, some of my hair days are diamonds, some are stone regardless of the care taken. LOL

All-in-all, I doubt I have the stamina to keep up with it and would definitely need practise to master the art of sectioning.
