Who Does Bantu Knots/Pin Curls?

Everytime I do this style my hair looks messed up. Anyone do this style with good results?

I do this two ways.

I do the two strand and continue twisting until it twists around itself. I let the hair do the holding. I do not put pins in.

The other way is to just a section of hair a just twist and keep twisting it will shorten until it starts a ball then let twist around itself again with no pins. I may put gel, but nothing else.

Thanks Coily! I didn't even think about doing it the two strand way. Does it look the same as regular bantu knots?
