Miss Jessie's has mineral oil, yikes!

bushbush Posts: 25Registered Users
I just was introduced to Miss Jessie's products. I was loving the meringue. I just noticed that mineral oil (aka petrolatum liquidum) as the second ingredient after water. So, that means we're paying tons of money for cheap stuff that's drying to the hair in the long run. I've heard stories about people's hair drying and breaking off after months of using Miss Jessie's, so despite the positive testimonials, I'm definitely staying away, and suggest you do too!

That's it in a nutshell; more profit in their pockets - crap on our heads. I've discovered Curls by Sisters Smith Wet Set Hair pudding looks, feels and gives results similar to MJCP but with better ingredients, way better price tag and better smell.

I just purchased the Brown Sugar fragrance and it's a nice light smell:

Just to chime in. The wet set pudding by curls by sister smith is one of my staples. It looks like the same consistency of Miss Jessies but like SBB said better indgredients. I love this stuff. I use this over my leave in and under my gel. HTH.

Bush, you probably already know this, but you can still get the old formulation of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Meringue-p-576.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-meringue]Curly Meringue[/buylink] (pre-mineral oil) if you buy the 16 oz. size. In fact, they're having a two-for-one sale here at Curl Mart as well as Miss Jessie's if you wanna stock up. The sale makes me think, though, that it's Miss Jessie's way of getting rid of everything so that only the evil, new formulation will be what they sell. So, I guess it's good that you all have found a substitute (at least for the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]Curly Pudding[/buylink], anyway).

I received her sampler pack and so far Ive tried love the Quick Fix spritz! Its beats out Giovanni Direct as a leave-in! and it comes in a little bottle that perfect for middle of the day freshening of my naps.:glasses8:
The price is excellent and I understand that she is a chemist in her own right. I was skeptical at first wondering how anything this inexpensive can be so good. (then I remembered Suave Tropical Coconut) I'm gonna try the pudding that came in the sampler when it gets warmer outside. The sample kit came with a "deeep" conditioner, a Hot oil vial,a Hair Butter and The Wet Set Hair pudding. I dont think Miss Jessie's is gonna see my credit card anymore

For anyone interested, I have the Wet Set pudding (in Brown sugar) available for the cost of shipping or maybe a swap(let me know what you have available to swap). I have about half a jar left.

It didn't do much for me, but I'm sure it will work for someone. PM me if interested.
A wonderful mix of coils, curls, corkscrews, and kinks.

Is Curls by Sister Smith only available in the U.S. Their website only ships to U.S., Hawaii and Virgin Islands.
Does anyone know whether it is available anywhere else? I'd love to try it at at that price, but I live in Canada.
    TIA

Hi! The Quick Spritz scent is summer citrus. I use it as a daily spritz when my hair feels dry.
Deep Conditioner scent is in Floral Blend
Hot oil treatment is in Lavender
Hair Butter scent is Summer Garden
Wet set Pudding is Brown Sugar (smells great!)

    Curls By Sisters Smith

The WSHP is my #3 styler after KT/[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] and Sheamoisture. I like that it elongates my curls when wet so I get a little less shrinkage as it dries. Definition is good, but shine is minimal and the WSHP doesn't play with my leave-ins. The other products I tried (Quick spritz and conditioner) don't work for me. Conditioner smelt like peppermint and the quick spritz revived my frizz:compress:
