Desperately Seeking... Deep Conditioner

(sorry, 80's reference there in the title)

I need to deep condition SERIOUSLY. I am gonna stop by Sally Beauty Supply on the way home...and, I'd like some suggestions on what to pick up...not necessarily BRANDS (unless you know what Sally carries), but maybe what key ingredients/formulations I should be looking for and those I should avoid??

The top layer of my hair is super-dry as a bone for some reason!! I think it may be my hairspray.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!
Hair Type: 2B/3A hybrid, I believe. Had it short for about 5 years, and have since let it grow. Layers have brought out the curl...and I haven't gone 'straight' since!

Well, I settled on L'Oreal's Mega Strength Fortifying Treatment. Used a clarifying shampoo, rinsed and slathered this on...left it on for two hours, and rinsed. Nice, but my hair is so soft that it's flat on top...maybe I didn't rinse out well enough.

It was $7.00 for a small tub of it...probably get five or six uses out of it.
