I think I'm in labor

KaiaKaia Posts: 8,815Registered Users
I really hope so anyway bc if this isn't it, I don't think I can handle the real thing. I've been having contractions 2-3 minutes apart since 2 am, but they're only lasting about 30-40 seconds. I am so ridiculously tired, but everytime I lay down to try to nap, the discomfort becomes unbearable. I can't even recline propped up on pillows. I'm thinking I'll go to the mall when it opens. I'm tired of walking little circles around my living room and it's way too cold for me to go walking outside.

Walking is great if you think you're up for it to go to the mall. You might find the car ride to get there uncomfortable though. Staying upright, even if it's not walking, is enough to help with labor, so you might want to think about staying home and dancing or hip swaying your way through contractions. Have you got an exercise ball? Sitting and swaying/rolling on that is very helpful for opening the pelvis and satisfying the movement urge you're feeling. Even sitting and rocking in a rocking chair.

Good luck to you. I wish you a peaceful labor and birth, and a healthy mom and baby.

That's exactly how my labour started and went! I hope that is it for you - be happy and healthy! So exciting!!!!!

I'm still here and man, this is taking a long time! And here I thought that since I stated with contractions 2 minutes apart for the first 6 hours that I'd have a quick labor... WRONG! I've had contractions coming pretty consistently all day long, but they weren't super regular. They'd be every 3-5 minutes, then I'd skip one here and there, then have a couple really close together. The pain is manageable but too much to sleep, so the only sleep I've had today was when i fell asleep in the bathtub for an hour. At one point, I seriously wanted to go to the hospital and demand pain killers and sleeping pills. My doula came over a couple of hours ago and reassured me that she thinks I'm definitely in true labor, which was really great bc I was starting to get really discouraged. She thinks it'll probably happen sometime tomorrow, so we might have a due date baby. My mom keeps asking when I'll go to the hospital. I'm really glad I didn't go in this afternoon, because I'm sure they'd be pushing pit on me by now. There's no way I can sleep now as my contractions are coming pretty strong even in a warm bath, so I'm just trying to relax and conserve energy for later. I'm really hoping this won't take another whole day.

Thanks for the good vibes, everyone!
