Spongy Hair

My hair has been feeling spongy when I co wash lately and it's been getting really tangled. My hair has never felt this way before. What could it be?

I co wash 2-3 x's a week with Suave Natural Coconut and condition with AOHSR. I deep treat once a week and I have been rotaing products trying to find what is best. I always add some evoo to my dt. It's been about 1 month since I last shampooed it. Help please, I'm a little scared :-|

Try a gentle non-sulfate shampoo. I use Lamas Soy Hydration (Whole Foods); it's gentle but thorough and non-stripping. Afterwards do a protein treatment followed by a moisturizing DT or conditioner. I use Nexxus Emergencee. There's also Joico K-pak and Elucence Extended Moisture something. And there's always Aphogee.

It seems like product buildup/overconditioning. Similar things happen to me every couple weeks, and using a sulfate free shampoo has helped, along with using only as much conditioner/product as needed.

ITA w/ JuicyTube. I usually get that spongy feeling from overconditioning. After a while, you'll figure out how much and how often you need to condition.:rendeer:

I'm thinking I may be over moisturizing. I dt once a week leaving the treatment on for a few hours. I think I may scale that back for a while and see what happens. I washed today with a non sulfate shampoo and my hair still felt the sameif not a little worse. I guess it will take time. I thought I had the Nexxus Emgergencee at home, but I didn't so I'll pick that up tomorrow. The thing is when my hair is dry It feels really soft. Underneath like if i run my hands under the top layer of hair it feels like a really soft puffy afro. I dunno I'll see what happens.

As SBB suggested I washed my hair (I used Cream of Nature shampoo) and I used Nexxus Emgergencee. I'm happy to say my hair is getting back to normal! Thanks Suburbanbushbabe™!
