One quick suggestion: Ditch the juice completely. Drink water instead, and eat fruit. Juice is really just empty calories. And lots of calories, too. If you drink juice a few times a day, just replacing it with water will start you on the way to weight loss.

Also, how are your portion sizes? For example, I've heard a bagel from Dunkin Donuts counts as 5 servings of grains from the food pyramid.

Be careful. Not enough protein, for long periods of time, will cause hair loss. I did that when I went vegetarian. Vitamins won't help. You need eggs, beans or lean turkey/chicken/beef. It is also very filling, and will help with your weight loss. I also advise drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I buy the big liter size of water, and try to finish off by the end of the day. Sorry, to be nosy 8)

    Hi,
Congrats for eating well and committing to a weightloss plan. I just have one suggest as far as diet goes - you may want to add a little protein. It's important to follow the food guide and make sure that you have balanced meals. It's especially important at breakfast because a) it jump starts your metabolism and b)if you're sufficiently satiated, you're less likely to overeat later in the day.
So the cereal is good for fibre and juice is good for nutrients - just make sure you're not eating too much sugar. A good way to up your fibre and lower your sugar intake, is to replace juice with the actual fruit. Oranges are high in fibre so that's a good way to get your fruits/veg in the morn. Try to have eggwhites or some other lean protein source at breaky cuz that will keep your blood sugar levels stable.

    Good luck, hun!
    ~Amanda
