Just wondering how many 4a's/4b's are on the CG routine. I'm on a modified routine.

I am on a modified CG routine. I shampoo once a month.

My hair likes cones. I get less tangles, it grows more, and it is more moisturized when I use conditioners with cones so I continue to use conditioners with cones and just shampoo every 3 to 4 weeks. Although haven't experienced any build-up I just shampoo on schedule to avoid it.

I used to be on CG but when I started getting cornrows done, I started using SLS free shampoos the days that I undid them, so I shampoo about 2-3 times a month.
I have kinks, coils and curls on this head.

I'm 100% CG...everytime I try shampoo (any type), my hair gets so dry I have to use almost half a bottle of conditioner to repair the damage.

I wash at the very least twice a month, but co wash almost everyday. Either in teh morning, or at night, then just wet it in teh morning to refresh the crushed, slept on curls. Use castille soap only, 1 part soap to 2 parts water, carrot oil and a little rosemary eo.

Temporary HG products: Fantasia IC gel W/ sparkle lites, ORS jojoba oil. Soaking wet, put them in, dash out the door the epitome of cuteness!

    I'm CG too!
My mother thinks it's so weird not to use shampoo :?
I explained the CG concept, but she still :?: if my hair is clean!
So now I just tell her 'I'm washing my hair', and leave it at that

Once my Mom asked what I was doing in teh bathroom for so long. I told her I was "pooing", she yelled, " Well shut the door and turn on the fan dammit!"

LOL@zsazsa...I have been very reluctant to tell people about my no poo system for that same reason. My hair looks healthy and shiny and is clean, but whenever I mention conditioner washing to non-curlies (and even curlies who haven't heard of CG), they look at me like I'm crazy. How long have you been on CG, zsazsa?

    pacammi - LOL! That's a mess!

Kbaby - I am LOVIN' you for turning me onto Suave's Tropical Coconut. I had a hair fiasco this morning that almost made me late for work (Some conditioner I was trying to leave it fought with my gel and ended up cottage chessy and STUCK to my hair!) I co-washed with the Suave and STILL managed to make it to work on time AND look decent. Furthermore, my hair is really soft and I like it ^_^

I'm doing a modified deal but I'm slowly going longer and longer without shampoo. I'm finding that I'm shampooing more for PJ experiment fixes than anything else.

What are the "poo"-ers using to shampoo??

Again, I have to agree with Frizzy. I seem to be doing that alot. My hair doesn't mind the cones, as far as I can tell. It loves products with protein and oils. And I probably shampoo about once a month also.

As for the pooing :) I tried having that convo one time with a friend and she too thought my hair wasn't getting clean like zsazsa said. So I don't bother anymore  Oh well....

Right now, I'm using Nature's Gate and a shampoo bar I bought from a health store. I'm interested in trying Avalon Organics.

Using homemade bars of lemon rosemary soap, or castille soap with rosemary and carrot oil and water in a spray bottle, more control that way. I'm a bit of a control freak.

I'm on cg, and I love it. It's the best thing that I've ever done for my hair's health, next to giving up texturizing. The only time I ever shampoo is if I tried some heavy 'cone product for some reason or another, which I occasionally do. Then I shampoo it off as soon as possible.

I am kind of fiending highlights, and one of the things that's putting me off is the prospect of having to use protein conditioners, and hence at least occasional shampoo. I just don't want to do this to my hair, which seems to dry excessively with even the mildest of shampoos.

Kbaby- after my Mom's reaction, I figured I'd keep that nopoo to myself
I've been CG since the end of April.
I was at the local library, and the title of LM's book caught my eye, and thank God it did.
I had retired my hot comb and flat iron about 2 weeks prior, and my hair was a good mess!
After reading the book, and experimenting with some of her ideas, I finally realized I needed to comb my hair (that finger styling was-is not for this hair), and that I had to cut those straight ends off!
My hair is looking and feeling better every day

Asja -- gurl, anytime! I'm trying the CB tonight, I'll let you know how it goes. :)

Zsazsa -- I totally agree with you about CG helping with the healthiness. It's not for everyone, some curlies have no problem pooing, but everyday my hair seems to be getting softer, curlier and fuller on no poo. I am falling in love! :D

I am a modified CG. My hair loves proteins & gels so I use them. This causes some build-up. I shampoo with Dr. Bronner's Baby Mild Shikakai soap as needed. This averages every 18-22 days. I avoid cones and sulfates.

I tried being strictly CG and didn't like the results.

I'm mostly CG. I use IC gel in one of my mixes and it has a cone. Other than that, I'm completely CG. I can't even remember the last time I shampooed.

Since Ive been natural,8 months now, ive been completely CG. No cones, no shampoo, just all natural products. But Ive bought some gel, and some John Frieda anit-frizz products that have cones in them, cause I have major frizz issues. I also bought some Hydralicious conditioners for frizzy curly hair and they have cones in them and some other non-cg ingredients. I still dont use any shampoo, only Dr. Bonners Castile Soap mixed with some Suave conditioner once a month. So I guess Im heading towards the Modified CG Routine?

    I don't shampoo either . . . but I can't consider myself modified CG because I use the heck out of some cone-filled products . . . lol

I shampoo like once a month, even though I don't use anything with cones. I guess I'm not sure if I'm getting my hair clean. I have dry hair as it is, but my hair has been the driest and frizziest it has ever been since I started CG, I just thought it is supposed to be that way:cry:. I may go back to using cones sparingly since they worked for me before going natural. I just thought it was blasphemous to use them, but I guess I'm not the only one who does better with them:dontknow:. I'm glad this thread was put out there, cause some of the ladies that do use them have fabulous hair:toothy8: and I was so close to giving up being natural thinking it just wasn't working for me. Thanks again NC.

What are you doing for moisture? Cones won't fix a moisture issue. I have really dry hair, also, so I have to make sure that I moisturize well, otherwise I'm a walking brushfire hazard.

yeah, what she said... cones mask problems big time. You think your hair is doing fine because it is coated with silicones and responding well (so you think). Once you stop using them, you hair goes into shock. I went on a cone-less hair diet for a few weeks and tried other methods/products and revisited products I thought didn't work. I was amazed.

I am definitely sticking with not using cones. I am a believer:blob8:

I am modified CG. Sometimes I use Fantasia IC Gel which has a water soluble cone. I use sulfate-free shampoos every 3 weeks. I have noticed softer, less tangled hair and more defined coils since starting this method.

However, I must confess that I do cheat ocasionally. When I straighten (which hasn't been since January) I use a heat protectant w/cones. Thus, when going back to curly, I have to clarify with sulfates. I don't know of a heat protectant w/o cones. Do you ladies know of one?
