so i tried the SheaMoisture leave-in and it worked WONDERS. I have DRY hair...when i say dry i mean REALLY dry. My hair just soaked this up!

I co-washed with Aubrey Organics HSR.
Then applied the Sheamoisture to soaking wet.
Then applied Herbal Essences Body Envy gel.

Best hair day I've had in LONG while. Defined, mosturized, low-frizz curls.

LOVES IT

I've been using this for the past couple of weeks, but I'm starting 2 have mixed feelings. It takes TOO long to penetrate my hair. Also, it feels like it has mineral oil even though it doesn't say so on the label. It mentions "HERBAL COMPLEX", but what the heck iz that???

I've been using this for about 3 weeks now. I LOVE IT. I knew I would probably like it, because of the ingredients, but it's actually even better than I thought it would be.

My hair craves moisture pretty much all of the time and SheaMoisture delivers it. Lately I've been using a spray I made with a tiny dab of SM dissolved in purified water. My hair really loves this, especially with the dry winter heat.

The first time I used SM, I used way too much, but ever since I got the amount figured out, it's been heaven!

    :toothy7:

More details: I 'wash' with [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-No-Poo-p-465.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-nopoo]DevaCare No-poo[/buylink], then it's Back to Basics Pomegranate condish, which I rinse out maybe 85%. Squeeze out extra moisture, then rake through 2 quarters of SM to very wet hair, concentrating on the ends. I keep it away from my roots, as that will only weigh them down. Then I apply a quarter or two of a 70/30 mix of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]Jessicurl CCSS[/buylink]/RR and scrunch away. When it's about 70% dry, I apply a little more of the [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]CCSS[/buylink]/RR. Otherwise I don't touch it until it's dry, then I scrunch it out.

I noticed with SM, there was far less need to 'scrunch out the crunch,' which was awesome.

Days 2-5 or so, I refresh by applying a little more SM each day. I start by spritzing all over with the mixture I described above. Then I take a pea-sized dab of SM and emulsify it on my hands, dampen my hands with the spray and scrunch it all in, concentrating on the ends. I also smooth this over the canopy.

If needed, I might apply more [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]CCSS[/buylink]/RR. But generally I'm noticing I need a lot less product to maintain the curls once my hair is dry from washing. Love it!

Now that the SM has sat in my hair overnight, it looks more moisturized when I wake up. But still, I would be more @ ease if I knew what "herbal complex" is. I googled and everything and the various info was overwhelming and confusing! sigh, I shall c! :glasses9:

This leave-in is perfect for getting 2nd day hair. I haven't pushed it to the limit of 3rd day hair yet but I think it can last up to 4th day hair even with the SheaMoisture/water mixture. I use it as a 2nd day hair spritzer also. It is fabulous for that. Although, plain water works for me, the SheaMoisture/water combo is better! I can also use TIGI MM, [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Aloeba-Daily-Conditioner-p-104.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-aloeba-daily-conditioner]Jessicurl Aloeba[/buylink], and some other conditioners mixed with water for next day hair spritzers when I use this leave-in. The oilier leave-ins work best for me as spritzers with 2nd day hair. No need to put in extra oil.

One of the reasons I like SheaMoisture so much is because there is no "crunch" to scrunch out when I use this leave-in. It is easy to get carried away when applying this conditioner. Less is more. I have gotten very coated hair when I've used too much. SheaMoisture is awesome and a keeper for me!:blob7:

Some days I love it too death and then there are others. I think that when SHEAM is not working great at that point, I usually have product build-up from other things. Once I do an ACV rinse, SheaM is back at the top of its game. It is definitely a keeper and it is a tried and true product for me. :toothy7:

However, it does take a while for my hair to really take it all in. So, I have to be careful of the amount used.

Teshon, I never thought about using it as a leave-in spritzer. I am sure that would work awesome. I will have to give that a try.

It's probably just a fancy name for herb-infused water:wink:, but you could always ask the company for more information.

SheaMoisture does not work as a leave-in for me. It always leaves my hair greasy and it's hard to apply. That led me to start applying it to dry hair before I go to sleep. I wake up with soft, moisturized hair. Sometimes I can get away without wet styling, even with my short hair (pixie cut)! I'll definitely buy it again.

My hair loves the SheaM too! I use it as a leave-in but also on dry hair. I can't even remember what made me think it would work on dry hair but it works great. I do take a curling iron to touch up curls and I think it is a great heat protector.

My only problem is that I live on the West coast and I paid more for shipping than I did for the product! Oh well, it was definitely worth it!

I am sure that there are some places on the west coast that might have it. You may have to do a little investigation. I did not think we had it here, until ItsIRC told me she found in an "ethnic" beauty supply store. So, you may want to check with them.

In order to justify the shipping, I just bought 3 of them at one time. 24 oz is more than I get of BB and it costs less still. So, it is more economical that way before I found out it is here.

Thanks Nicki, I will check and see if I can find any ethnic beauty supply stores. I always check the ethnic sections when I am in the haircare. You'd never Phoenix was in the top ten largest cities. There are so many products that I can't find here! If I do need to order I will order multiples now that I know that it works so great for my hair.

More than welcome. Not all ethnic aisles are created equal when part of a larger store. You may find some good things there, but I see more crap that I can't use, than what I can. At least in the bigger EBSS, you can find more things that may be usable.
