Naturcolor is one of the dyes I looked into. In the end, I found out it has PPD which means I couldn't use it (allergy reasons) so can't comment on that aspect. But I did get hold of a list of ingredients. The colour contains these: Spagyric Herbal Infusion, Burdock, Centella Asiatica, Nettle, Sage, Hops, Lavender, Rosemary, Lecithin, Lavender Oil, Coconut Oil, Soy, Oleic Acid, Ethanolamine, Shea Butter, Mango Glycerides, Camomile Extract, Vegetable Resin Extract, Bilberry Extract, Red Sorrel Extract, Walnut Extract, Sodium Metabisulfite, Jasmine Absolute Acorbic Acid, Hydrolized Wheat Protein, P-Phenylenediamine, P Aminophenol and M-Aminophenol. There's a separate bottle of gel developer with something like 3% peroxide (no ammonia). It sounds a bit like Naturtint, which I used to use (and really liked). That covered my grey (left it a bit lighter than the rest of my hair), and lifted my colour a few shades with repeated use.

I'd guess each colour has a different formulation, and I don't know which colour the above list refers to. Seems hard to get hold of a lot of detail for it!

That scares me. If it lifts the color, then it could get brassy on me. Too much peroxide for me. :(

I remember reading something in the Naturtint FAQ recommending choosing only shades similar to natural hair colour because attempting to use a low-peroxide dye to lighten more would probably lead to brassiness. I ignored that in the beginning and used a colour a few shades lighter because I was trying to lift it. I think if I'd continued to use it, my hair would have turned brassy. I guess there must be more peroxide in the lighter shades, so more damaging in the long run too. I'm not sure whether the colour would lift much using something very close to natural colour, but it's still got that peroxide developer...

Sorry to go off-topic here, but I wish there was a permanent hair colour without ammonia, peroxide and PPD. I've tried numerous semi-permanents, and none of them cover the grey for more than a couple of washes. I'm counting on henna and indigo now but I'm nervous of taking the plunge. But I'm not ready to go grey yet either!

Here's a link to a recent thread about the color getting brassy:

I just used Naturcolor to cover my grey for the first time. So far I really think it did a nice job and it did cover the grey in a lighter shade, but the other colors I have bought at the store also do that. The only time this hasn't been the case is in the salon. The color had NO odor and was easy enough to use. I don't comb or brush my hair so applying hair color can be tricky, but the grey is gone! I definitely recommend!
