Combing Experiment - Pic

I tried 2Poodle's method again of combing out my hair after it dried and once again I really like it. I used Graham Webb Making Waves Gel today and all day it bugged me because it looked so messy. After my hair was totally dry and all crunch had been scrunched out, I used a large pick type comb and gently combed it out. Talk about some full hair! Then I used a little HE Totally Twisted gel and scrunched it back together and it's not too bad. Not quite as curly, but nice and wavy with good volume & shine.

After all this time, I never noticed that the directions on the Totally Twisted tube said it could also be used on dry hair. Duh.

wow, looks great ms giblet! I can't believe you had such great results with combing- it would be disaster city if I ever even came close to my dry hair with a comb.

I second that wow! I can't believe how good it looks! Just the thought of putting a comb to my dry hair is frightening
    Type: Course & thick. According to everyone's input, 2c w/ 3a potential.
Color: Brown w/ highlights & annoying grays which I color.
    Length: Past shoulders w/ layers.
Issues: Dryness, knots & more dryness!
    Poo: Deva Lo-Poo 1 x week, Clarify 1-2 x month
CO Wash: Suave Tropical Coconut (but looking for something else b/c I suspect protein issues)
    Condish: GVPCB, LVPNG
Leave-Ins: Was loving KBB Milk & Nectar, but overused them. Usually just leave-in some of what I CO with.
    Styling: Biolage Gelee

Hey - it looks gorgeous - and glamorous! :love1: When your hair is combed and re-scrunched, it's loose and kind of Veronica Lake-ish... Hey, it's nice to have options other than a ponytail or a headband when plan A doesn't work out, right?

Today I used a dab of Garnier Fructis Curl and Shine leave-in to re-scrunch after I combed my dry hair (it can also be used on dry hair). I got big soft, bouncy curls!

Thanks, you guys! I need a trim so bad I think it's giving me the urge to comb it because it looks so messed up when it's dry. As soon as I get it trimmed up, it probably won't work anymore.

Veronica Lake-ish! I like it. First thing I thought of after I did it was Ava Gardner-type wavy hair. Now if I just had the face and the body to go with it!! :laughing9:

I thought about trying the GF Curl & Shine, but I was afraid it might make my hair go too limp. Glad this gel works on dry hair without making it all sticky and frizzy.

Hey, I even got 2nd day hair with this! I just gently combed through this morning, spritzed with water and scrunched in some more TT. It's just a tiny bit looser than in the original pic.

what beautiful hair! it's very 40's movie star glamorous.

i like to comb thru mine too. i prefer the volume and softness. if i wait till it's 100% bone dry i can run a brush thru it and really love the outcome.

:angryfire: Jealous! Wish I could come through my hair - what a pipe dream! maybe I will try it just for fun sometime though just to see what happens - lol (only on a loose curl day though)

I should not complain, I am having quite a nice hair day today :blob3:

I always admire your hair Ms Giblet! I think sometimes I dream of 2c/3a hair....
3b, and increasingly c pieces... my curls will always be a little confused, but that is just fine!

Ooooh! Very nice, msgiblet! And you give me hope because my hair is very similar to yours, so I'm working up the courage to raise a comb to my hair! Perhaps this weekend....

Here's the thread, but basically, it's just gently combing through your hair after it's already been styled and completely dry and then rescrunching with your product of choice. I've just been doing it when I'm not having the best hair day and/or my hair just looks too messy; works for me. I do lose some curl, though, but get great waves.
