CurlTalk

Hi! I have a question about figuring out your hair type...

I'm new to posting here (been lurking and reading for several weeks and have already spent waaay too much money!) My question is: When trying to figure out your hair type, do you do it based on what your hair looks like without any products at all (besides shampoo and conditioner) or with products? All I can say for sure is that if I don't put any products in my hair, it FRIZZES, LOL! I also know that my hair is fine. I *think* I'm somewhere in the 2/3A range, but I'm not sure.

Can anybody help me out here?

    Tabitha,

Welcome to NC! I know you will learn a lot on here as I have. You should base your hair type without product, that will give you the most accurate rating on your hair and make it easier for you to figure out what products are best for your hair type.

Check out this page that lists "curly cocktails" for all hair types to get an idea of what products might work best for you. Best of luck!

    Hi Tabitha and WELCOME!
I found it helpful to look at other peoples' pictures and find someone with similar hair. This also can be helpful in choosing products.
    3A; I have HG products!
    Curl enhancer: Mop-C curl cream
DT: Deva Heaven in Hair; JC WDT
    Gel: B&A; Arc Angel
Conditioner: Deva OneC; JC too shea
    Frizz fighters: CK, JCS C&S

Thanks so much for your replies! I believe I'm a 2a/b. Down the middle of the back of my head the hair is quite thick and is more 2A, but the sides act more like 2B. I have trouble getting my hair to hold curl in the winter - it wants to go straight. In the summer, I'm constantly fighting the frizz monster. Sigh...it's always something, isn't it?
