how often do you change your towels?

FreeCurlsFreeCurls Posts: 4,408Registered Users
Do you use a new bathroom towel daily or do you keep the same one for longer like a week (or more)? How many towels do you use per event like one for hair and one for body or just one for both per shower/bath.

I shower mostly at the gym and I have the towel service so.. my showers at home are just to wash my hair and do that every other day (or so). I use 3 towels for a shower.

I use two towels - microfiber for the hair and a regular bath towel for the rest of me. I switch bath towels every couple of days. The hair towel gets washed every week.

Fresh towel for the body everyday, I use the same two microfiber towels for my hair all week.

I change them every week or so.

I guess I've never understood using a fresh towel every day when all I'm doing is drying off after a shower when I should be clean. It's not like I sit around in the towel all day.

    Just my 2 cents.

Every few days. I like to get a few showers per towel but kids seem to use mine and they leave them on the floor or throw them in the hamper and at that point I'm not using them again. No planned timeframe. Simply matter of chance.

Usually daily. Our water has a funky smell to it, and if you leave the wet towels hanging in the bathroom for any length of time it makes the bathroom stink. I used to use the same bath towel for 3-4 days, and I probably will again when the water problem gets back under control.

I agree. Usually every weekend we'll throw all of the towels in the washing machine.

Me too, weekly. I'm never cleaner than just out of the shower. I never throw towels on the floor or let the cats play with them. They don't get dirty, why replace them every day?

I use 1 towel for my shower, and change it after a week. Same reasoning: I'm clean after a shower, so my towel isn't going to be dirty after one use.

I don't use a towel on my hair at all. (Except my plopping towel, and I change that after 1 week, too.)

I answered weekly but it's really about every 3-4 days. I usually use the same hair towel for a week because I only wash my hair every other day.

This has always been my thoughts too. I use 1 towel for my hair and one for my body.

My towel pet peeve with my husband is that he doesn't hang hand towels or kitchen towels up correctly. He just kinda wads 'em up and throws them on the towel bar/hook. I say, "Is that how we hang up our towels?" And he says, "That's how I hang up our towels...but let me try it your way!"

Is this going to become another shower curtain thread? 8)

I use a different towel every three - four days, and I don't use a towel to bathe - I use the wash ball scrubby things and get rid of them once a month.

I used to change mine weekly, but now I have two little kids. I change them every other day (hanging up high) or every day (if they are hanging withing children's reach) now. What specifically changed my mind, you wonder. Shudder. I noticed my 3 year old wipes her nose on them when no one is looking. And washes and dries her toys.

I want to ask what the laundry situation is for those of you who wash your towels frequently. Do you have your own washer and dryer? Do you have to pay for them? Do you have to go to a laundromat? To you have a really big hamper? Do you have to do a billion flights of stairs? Do you have to wait for it to be done?

I just ask because I feel like this may turn into the shower curtain thread if I admit to not washing my towels frequently at all. I have about 4 towels (plus hand towels) and use one for hair and one for body, so I can change my towels once before having to wash them. I don't have room to store more. And I have to pay a dollar per machine, and it's down 4 flights of stairs. They're not the biggest machines in the world either, so doing the towels takes up a lot of space!

i change face and workout (sweat) towels daily....i find this helps my skin and who wants to use a gym towel more than once.

for my bath/shower towel and dry off (big) towel...i change that about weekly....depending on when i'm washing all the other towels.

Once a week is fine for us. After a towel is used to dry off, it's hung up to dry. It's just water. We own about 10 bath towels. I do laundry weekly, sometimes more, when we've gone to the beach or something. We live in our own home and own a washer and dryer. We have one of those folding hampers, not a very big one either. Hey, I'd love to have fresh towels daily. Vacations away are fun like that. But in everyday life I have to do the laundry myself and I just don't have to time to do loads and loads of towels.

I thought the same thing when I opened the thread and started reading!

Since we've lived in a home, we wash towels more frequently. Honestly, I think it is because my husband does the laundry 8) Though, growing up my mom was home and she washed clothes everyday. There were five children plus her daycare (50 kids), so everything got washed all the time.

When I lived in a house where we had to go outside to get to the basement, I didn't wash clothes/towels as frequently, so I understand where you're coming from.

I use a fresh towel every day. I personally just like fresh towels. I do my laundry once a week, so that's only about five or six towels in the washer and dryer. I also use a fresh washcloth in the shower daily and then another fresh one at night to wash my face.

Every time I shower, I use a new towel. Every time I wash my face, I use a new face towel. Same with washcloths.

When I didn't do this, I got body acne. The Dr. clued me in on the changing towels, and I've been doing it ever since.

Now, I would wipe my face with a wad of Kleenex instead of using a towel that has already been used...and I do if I run out of face towels.

why? Is your body "allergic" to your own skin cells? I'm confused.

Apparently, when something gets wet, and stays wet for awile, bacteria can grow.

There is no ventilation in my bathroom, so the towels never dried out that fast.
