Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven’t been around much – I’ve been busy with the baby and taking some time to adapt to mom life :)
Here is my long-awaited birth story!

On the afternoon of September 12 (my due date), I went into the hospital for my 40 week appointment. Continuously for the two previous days, I had contractions every ten minutes which spaced out into the night and started up again in the morning. At my appointment, I had two contractions within the ten minutes that the doctor was seeing me, so she decided to send me to Labor and Delivery for them to check me out. When I got there, they hooked me up to the monitors and verified that I was having contractions every ten minutes. I had the option of staying at the hospital or waiting until my contractions got closer together. I was so hungry and the hospital told me I would only be able to have ice chips once admitted, so I opted for the latter, and left to get a salad at Panera.
My husband decided to get a sub from a pizza place nearby, so I sat in the car, in labor, and ate my salad. While eating, my contractions became very intense and were 2-3 minutes apart. When my husband came out, I told him how close they were and I decided to go home anyway. When we pulled into our driveway ten minutes later, I told him we had to go to the hospital and to run up and grab my overnight bag. The hospital staff laughed when we showed up again less than an hour after leaving.
My contractions were 2-3 mins apart and I was dilated 4cm. There was some concern that the baby’s head was lodged in my pelvis and wouldn’t fit through my cervix, but I wanted to try anyway. About 5 hours later, my doctor convinced me to have my water broken to encourage my cervix to dilate. At that point, I had an epidural.
At 7am, my cervix was dilated only to 6cm, and my contractions became weaker and more spaced out. I was not making much progress. I held out for about 4 hours, and then was told that I would have to have a cesarean section, not only because of my lack of progress, but due to the baby’s size in relation to my size.
I was very upset about the circumstances, but Brooklyn Rayne arrived at 12:50pm on September 13.
She is absolutely perfect and I have definitely been enjoying my time at home with her. I will post some pictures very soon and I will be on a lot more often once I get back to work!

Great birth story too. Mine also didn't go exactly as planned, but you have a beautiful, healthy baby girl and that's the important part. :love1:

    Congrats on a healthy baby!

Wonder if it was that salad that got things going? I may have to remember to try that if I go past due date.

I got the one with gorgonzola, cranberries and walnuts and I almost went back ten minutes later, despite being in labor, when I realized the guy forgot the cranberries. :laughing9:
