I've decided to keep it short! (for now)

So after getting all of my hair chopped off back in August, the time has come for me to decide whether I'm going to let it grow out or keep it trimmed down. After I had gotten it cut before, I said to myself "I miss my long hair! I must let it grow out and not touch it for at least a year."

But I've actually gotten attached to it. As someone with THICK hair, a short cut vs. a long cut means a huuuge difference in product usage, and I'm loving how I never need multiple palmfuls of any of my product in one sitting. So my budget's happy. My hair also curls a lot better when it's short; I get a lot more volume at my roots and the hair doesn't wait until my ears to start curling. And I mean, honestly... short hair = confidence, right? :afro: Going to college in NYC has really taught me a lot about myself, and I think I can comfortably say that I feel like a more outgoing and unique person with my haircut.

So I've decided to keep my hair short for now. I'm scheduling an appointment for the guy who cut it all off in the first place, in a week and a half. I'm a little nervous about the cut (as I am every time), so I guess we'll see what happens!

Your hair is gorgeous! That cut looks really good on you! I don't blame you a bit for staying short, you look great!

I am using about the same products as you. Love the VO5 cowash, and isn't AOHR the best conditioner ever? I am so glad I took the plunge and ordered it. I use HEBE too, but think I like Aussie Aussome Volume a little better, I have been experimenting w/ both.

    Thank you!

I LOVE the AOHR. I feel like it does wonderful things to my hair as soon as I smooth it through. And considering how much I need to use... it's so cheap. I don't know if I'll ever use another condish again (PJ's ears perk up as it utters a low growl).

You had lovely long curls, but your shorter cut really is great on you! I think we're hair twins! Even the quirky curls on top. ;) Now I can get an idea of how my hair would look that short. I've only ever cut to just above shoulders, yours is a little short in your first pics. I love the first one in your Fall album. Yeah, it does take a lot less product! :)

ETA: sorry, what are AOHR and HEBE?

I know, I know :alien: [waves hands wildly] -- Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose CO! and Herbal Essence Body Envy -- that could be gel, mousse, 'poo, or CO. The gel is good. And I'll add another rave for the AOHR -- I love it -- and the smell is delicious.

MysteryFlavored, your curls are gorgeous either way. Great long hair, great short cut.
2-something? Coarse, medium underneath. Mid-back. On CG since 5/9/07.
Washing COs: VO5 Blackberry, Suave Cherry
Detangle and leave-in: Sally's GVP Conditioning Balm -- I found my HG CO!

    Gels: Homemade FSG, Eco-styler
Plus: SOTC or smooth with camellia oil, JC Nourish & Shine

Thanks RS! So, MF--which one do you use? It may work for me too! :)

I am interested in the Aubrey conditioner. Can anybody tell me if it's protein free. I saw it has wheat oil is this a protein?
    3A hair.
Use suave naturals to wash hair daily.
Carol's Daughters Tui leave in conditioner
    protein treatment once a month

    Aww gee, thanks everybody. :D

I use the HEBE gel. I'm not much of a hairspray or mousse person. Also the AOHR is totally protein free -- oil is oil is oil is fat, and not protein.

    And yay hair twins! :love1:

I got mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. It was like $8. I think there are online drugstores that sell them for cheaper, so if you're buying enough, you'll spend less money, shipping included.

I think the shampoo has protein in it, or something else that turned me off. There are maybe 2 AO shampoos that are protein-free (I believe they're all CG), but I haven't heard much about them to I didn't purchase. As rule, though, you won't find any CG shampoo... :P

OH, and by the way, I had a dream about getting my hair cut last night. I got it done by this woman with long long curly hair that looked all frizzy and damaged and bleached (so why did I choose her?). My hair was long in the dream, so after she cut it I remember her combing it out dry, which horrified me, and then put sticky product in it so that my hair looked just like hers. ): And then I woke up... and got sick (not because I'm sick, but because I took a double dose of my BC last night, which always makes me super nauseous the next morning). Hair nightmare! :pale:

Wow, you really look great with your short curls! I'm doing the same thing: going from longer (though not as long as yours was) hair to a much shorter cut. Thanks for the inspiration! I love your cut! :love1:
