2 weeks without products

For the passed (past?) 2 weeks I have been cowashing (except I shampooed like twice) and have been not putting any products in my hair and I am so happy with the results. My hair was getting gunky with the products I used before (I tried everything) and it felt so dirty and weighed down. Now its shiny and free and I love it. It was frizzier than it was with products which is kind of what you wouldnt expect.

One thing that I cant do anymore is use heat because I dont put anything in my hair which means I cant put a heat protector in it, but if I straighten it I'll be smoothing it out with the straightener so maybe the frizz that I get from putting product in wont be an issue.

anyway Im not suggesting everyone do this, I'm just saying it worked for me and im going to continue this regimine (or lack of regimine) as long as it keeps working.

There's actually a long thread (maybe on the 3a board?) about going product-free. I do that sometimes when I don't have much time to spend on my hair.

I have only been using a no-sulfate 'poo, conditioner, and coconut oil in my hair for a week or so. So far, the results are great and my hair is so soft...I'm thinking I may need to use a gel or something on humid/rainy days though.

yeah my hair did that for a while right after I stopped using gel, but then after about a week it stopped getting big and puffy. I think some products cause your hair to be product dependent. Bad comparison but its like when people are quitting smoking.

So what is your routine, exactly and what products are you using?? I love coconut oil for my hair, but am using other products, too. I would love to cut down on using so many products now that the heat and humidity are gone....

    Thanks!!

I didn't use any products today, since I came home for the weekend from Wilmington (where my college is) to see my family, and we didn't have any plans today. I can usually go without product at home, but I go to college in a beach town, and the humidity is awful. I can get away with it sometimes there, but other times it's just too frizzy!

I think that's true in many cases.

Unfortunately, I can't go product-free, not because I'm afraid of the bigness; that is the nature of my hair. But without at least a leave in, my hair is dry dry dry, so unless that changes, I don't see much "naked hair" in my future.
