Wash and Go styling products?

[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-Angell-p-57.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacurl-angell]Deva Angel[/buylink] is great when I have the time to set my hair and keep it from moving, but that rarely happens. I hate the crunchy stage. I'm the very busy mom of toddlers (ie no time for hair styling).

Any wash & go products? Looking for some hold, curl definition and reduce frizz. No crunchies please.

thx!

Hmm, I don't remember FX special effects curl booster fixative gel giving me crunchy hair.

Yeah, it really doesn't give a hard crunch. It's more of a pliable soft crunch, for lack of a better description. When it dries & after it's scrunched out, very easily I might add, it leaves no flakes, no dryness, no shell. It's a great curl-forming & great hold gel.

I just have a bad habit of thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the fence & end up trying something new, but going back to my holy grail, the Fx Special Effects.

Have they changed the formula on FX Curls Up? I have a very old (I mean really old very large) bottle and it doesn't have cones. Since I've gone CG and actually read the contents, I noticed that the Curls Up they are now selling have cones?

    Yeah, that's me.

Anyhow, the Fx gel I have contains no silicones, no paraffin, no beeswax, no protein, no mineral oil & no drying alcohol. For as long as I've been using it, it's been in an 8 oz orange-gold bottle with purple & silver cap.

    It's this one: 319364.jpg

I stole the picture from here:

But their ingredients, past FD&C Blue #1 are incorrect. It does not contain:
Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, Purified Water Aqua, Chamomile Extract, Fragrance Parfum
to my knowledge, unless the formula was changed within the last several months & other Fx users on the board never said anything.

ETA: I went to the maker's website (Vogue International) & the one I have is still made, though the ingredients aren't listed, so I hope it's the same one. There are other gels that are new to me. Check 'em out.

I really like this stuff. It's the first product I tried when my hair first started growing out and I realized I had some curl which led me to this site. You've also reminded me that I need to pull it out and see how it works for me now.

I have seen two FX bottles. One I know has SD 40 Alcohol as the first ingredient. The other, I think, has a cone. I know because I looked at both and put both back on the shelf. I just can't remember what products they were.

    Stop the presses!

I remember wanting to take Walgreen's up on a BOGO offer for this gel. I had to return one to the store for an exchange because it contained silicones & a drying alcohol. It was a different shape bottle (more round) with a different spout (ribbed cone). I think it was a really old bottle that wasn't ever switched out. I haven't seen one like it since.

I've noticed Walgreen's has a habit of selling old stuff, things that should have been pulled from the shelves when new/reformulated things replaced them. In fact, they're still selling Suave Professionals conditioner for curls (green bottle). It was reformulated to INCLUDE cyclopentasiloxane.

The bottles of FX that I saw were at WalMart -- today!

This better just be a scare! :( Even if I'm always looking for greener grass, I come back to my Fx.

I was at Wal*Mart today & they were all out of my gel. I talked with a gal who looked it up on her scanner & she said they were just out of stock since it's always a hot seller. I'm going to Walgreen's tomorrow then since they don't seem to get new items in until they've sold the old. I may even hit up Rite Aid. K'Mart here no longer sells the Fx stuff so they're off the hook.

Let us know what you find out, and good luck. Next time I am in WalMart I will look more closely at the bottles as well. :glasses7: I want to know because I want to try it too! :alien:

So I went to three of the closest Wal*Mart's & one is out of stock & two don't carry the item.

I went to one each Walgreen's & Rite Aid. Both have the regular item in stock. Rite Aid's Fx products are on sale for $4.99.

I said forget this about driving around anymore.

Some other time I'll visit the other closest Walgreen's & Rite Aid stores. I think there are one or two more of each nearby.

If the item has changed formulas, so be it. I'll just have to find something else like others have had to do with their favorite products that were discontinued.

ETA: I e-mailed the company asking if they changed the formula to include the things noted.

I got a reply from the company!
No, I do not believe any of those ingredients are included in the formula for Curl Booster Fixative Gel. I have researched the ingredient list and did not see anything that was similar to the items included in you list.

    I hope this helps!

Has the formula for Fx Special Effects Curl Booster FIXATIVE GEL changed to INCLUDE silicones, mineral oil or paraffin, and/or a drying alcohol?
