Ideal Hair Length?

in Hair Type 3
I've been growing my hair out, (and really happy with it) until I saw itsjustmeghan's goal hair pic, then I wanted THAT! My sister keeps mentioning how long my hair is, and I think if I were to cut off 10inches to donate to Locks of Love, it'd be just about shoulder length... but I was just wondering about other curlies with my hairtype... what do you think is your ideal length?
(Also, as much as I know that "any hair is professional as long as its well kept," I was thinking that around shoulder length hair may give me a more "put together" appearance than BSL for my upcoming interviews as I finish up my last semester of college...)

So now it's about 3 inches below my shoulders. I will be keeping it around this length.
The annoying thing is if it was straight it would be below shoulders but I have not straightened for about a year now & don't intend to either!

i don't know if i'll do that exact cut, but i'll probably try to stick to something like that. maybe a longer version of it. i've never had my hair layered with it was longer, so i think it's worth a shot!
if you can donate hair while looking fabulous, then GO FOR IT!
just be sure to post pictures!

"There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us, it hardly behooves any of us to talk about the rest of us."
I have tried to grow my hair out so many times. When it gets a bit passed my shoulders I always start hating it. Too much frizz and it looks unkept. I am going to get an appoinment to get it cut off some as soon as I can now.
the hair you donate is unlikely to make it to someone who needs it, but is otherwise unable to afford a human hair wig.
I'll scour around and get the information on it, but I worked a short stint with a wigmaker who explained that the wigs are just too expensive and too labour intensive to just donate without selling the majority of hair on the commercial hair market. after making hair peices, I completely understand - you are basically latch hooking hair onto a fine net, one hair at a time. a fast wigmaker can make a full head wig in about ten days, and the price tag runs into the thousands.
your hair is more likely to end up in a weave for someone who wants instant gratifiaction long hair now, if you donate lengths over 24 inches (straight.) hair shorter than that is more likely to be used as hairpeices and toupees. and naturally curly hair isn't used at all until its been chemically straightened--it would take a master wigmaker to be able to hook the hairs so consistently that the curl patterns would fall correctly and not degenerate into a cloud of frizz. and if a wigmaker could do it, the price tag would be five figures, easy. Curly human hair wigs are permed.
same here! 8)

Sorry I didn't see this until now. I went to Mane Tamer in Pikesville, MD, and they seemed really receptive to whatever I wanted to do. I posted one pic a while ago, but I don't think it is up anymore... hopefully I can get some good ones up here once my camera decides to start working again :?
i have a way to go...it's not even to my shoulders yet (chin length) ahhh!! oh well...at least it may be healthy at that length this time.
