A typical pattern would that the first time you use a product your hair looks great, but after several days in a row, your hair is dry, fuzzy and limp. This is more often a problem for those who don't shampoo, since the excess protein can build up. And there are lots of people whose hair is quite happy with protein.

    A Protein Product Example:

I first found out that my hair was protein sensitive when I first used Abba Nourishing Conditioner. It's the only product I've ever used that was loaded w/ proteins. My hair would look moisturized when I applied it to wet hair. After it air-dried, it would look dry but it felt soft. With the next days use it would be dry, brittle, and hard. This would get worse day after day until I shampooed. I was able to use it though w/a mixin of oil. I was faithful to this method for a while until I finally started to listen to my hair. I finally had to let Abba go. I'm still using the Nourishing poo once a week though. Not as many proteins. Love it! I try to stay away from proteins now and the results are amazing!
3c-4a; Protein Sensitive(forms of wheat, keratin, soy and anything "hydrolyzed"). My hair hates coconut oil and jojoba oil(sometimes).

I think my hair is protein sensitive.

Anyone else who's protein sensitive but can use Jessicurl products? They don't come up on the product review search as low protein but I've been wanting to try JCRR and [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Confident-Coils-Styling-Solution-p-116.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-confident-coils-styling-solution]CCSS[/buylink] for a while.

ALSO any recommendation for a protein-free gel that has good hold and frizz control?!?!??

I'm extremely protein sensitive and I can use Jessicurl products on a very limited basis. Like maybe once a week. So, it's not worth it to me to buy the styling products.
I use the GLS and use that once a week and I'm ok with that. My hair doesn't like alot of oils on a regular basis and her stuff has ALOT of oils.

How long does it take y'all typically to see results when you switch to protein-free products? I bought some Suave Ocean Breeze conditioner yesterday and a leave in from Garnier, which has one cone, but no protein, so I figured it was the lesser of two evils. Now I'm looking to add a gel. Also what deep conditioning treatments do y'all use on protein sensitive hair?

I've used this as a deep treatment and liked the results.

However, I will say that using it was a bit of a challenge. When I was putting it in my hair, it felt like my hair was just sucking it up, so I ended up using a lot of product. It is also not a great detangler.

When I dried and styled my hair, though, it was bouncier and shinier, so it was worth it!

With the Jessicurl line? With hers, I only use the GLS once a week. I also like her thicker condish - once in a while. I use that mainly for deep condition days.

Products that I use on a regular basis are -- shampoo - my hair LOVES sulfates but I try and only poo with it twice a week. I use Suave professional humetacant (spelling??). Condish, I use Steiner.
Styling products I use Herbal Essence set me up.
    that's about it.
