I've been transitioning going on 18 months and wanted to know if anyone else is around that time as well. If you are, what's kept you going this long?

Well...I have had a few cuts...but nothing drastic I've been completely natural since about June 2006 and probably had my last relaxer about, maybe 6-9 months before that. So I've been transitioning since the end of 2005-begining of 2006.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

I have been transitioning for about 1yr 8months and its funny when I first started it was a big deal because I had a hard time dealing with my ng mainly because I had scab hair....but after so long now its gotten easier and its weird to think about it almost because its just a regular thing now. I think that seeng other natural heads beautiful hair that has kept me going and a desire to see my natural hair. :happy1:

hey. im at exactly 18 months. i got sick of the relaxer. the breakage, the being afraid of water or other moisture in the air, the inability to wash and go, the cost, all of it. thats part of why im still here. another part is all the beautiful hair ive seen on this site. its an inspiration. finally, with more than half of my hair curly, and i can still blowdry & flat iron it straight without too much hassle; because of that, im really questioning why i ever used relaxer, because even when i was relaxing, i had to use the blowdryer & flat iron. keep at it ladies!

I'm about that time or more but I've noticed after transitioning that I improved to a healthier look but am now stuck with the same hair length for months. Can't seem to find what is causing it to freeze it's natural process. :(

Next Friday will mark my one year anniversary

Hey Mikievora, I question that every single day. I rollerset and flatiron my hair and you would never know I am 100% natural. The only difference now is that it looks healthier, oh and I can achieve the look without paying somebody $65 to fry my scalp.

seriously! so, question: how long beofre your hair starts to curl back up once youve straightened it? mine starts curling at the roots within a couple hours of my straightening it. because of that, ive been wearing a bun daily for almost a year now.

I've transitioned long term several times in my life...before I ever knew what transitioning was. This last time I transitioned probably 2.5 years. I just didn't want to cut it short and there's not a huge difference between my relaxed hair and my natural hair so I could get away with it.

I've had very damaged, breaking hair before and I never want it again. I figure if I stay natural, avoid the "bad things" and just be careful, I won't ever have to deal with that mess again.

It doesn't curl up again until I wet it. The only other thing I can think of is if I sweat it'll frizz or curl up.

Maria002 your hair is looking good! I still remember back when I joined you were afraid to chop your relaxed ends and look how beautiful your hair is now. I should follow some of your tips and start buying myself some rollers cause I am darn tired of putting my hair up in a pony tail everyday to work. Still looking for ideas to style this shrinking hair. :blackeye:

I was looking at your Fotki page and I see what you mean.

Did you do the rollerset? I"m dying to see how it came out!
