Leave-ins

What kind do you all use? I haven't used any in a long time. I used to love this one by the hair place called "cost cutters" they had this leave in spray that was great, it was some kind of "sea" something-wish I could remember. It worked great for touch ups etc. Wish I lived near a Cost Cutters, closest one is about 2 hours away.

Garnier Fructis curl 'n shine or sleek 'n shine. I honestly don't know if there's a difference. I use the sleek 'n shine when it's humid/rainy and the curl 'n shine when it's dry. Available at drugstores, groceries, WalMart, etc. etc.

I use JC's Too-Shea. Even though my hair is baby fine, it doesn't weigh it down as long as I don't use too much.

Right now I am not using a leave-in, but am going to try it. I read in another thread that you can still leave some of your CO in from the shower an still use a leave-in for extra moisture.

Right now I am raking/scrunching products into soaking wet hair and plopping. Should I apply the leave-in after plopping? That makes the most sense to me, but thought I'd ask since I love all the feedback I get from everybody!! :hello2:

I'm just a leave-in fool, I rotate several, usually under a light gel. Right now I have Robert Craig Conditioner as a leave-in under Alagio Crazy Curl Balm. I also like Aveda Elixir (what I have left of it), SheaMoisure Sheabutter leave-in, Beauty Without Cruelty, [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Knot-Today-p-207.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-knot-today-leaveindetangler]Knot Today[/buylink], Paul Mitchell the (genuine or generic) Conditioner, Abba Nourishing.

SBB, I'm turning into a leave in whore too cause I keep reading your posts! I just picked up some of the Shea leave in today that you were raving about on the review boards. ATA, I found some coconut oil at my local Shoprite. It was at the end of the haircare aisle with some ethnic/African American hair care products.

:laughing9: :laughing9: I originally typed "whore" instead of "fool" but want to believe I'm still a lady. But I'm not.... :happy2: Make sure the coconut oil you got is 100% pure; most (90%) of the ethnic/AA hair products contain mineral oil/paraffinum as a top ingredient.

I get mine at a local natural food store. I'm pretty sure it could be found at Whole Foods, just make sure it's unrefined and pure like suburbanbushbabe said.

Thanks, I will. :) This is a natural curl relaxer, right? I've been having volume/shrinkage issues lately.

I wouldn't say there's a dramatic difference, but it won't enhance them. There is a very slight relaxation.

Right now I am using Eulucence Moisture Balance for my leave-in. When I use it up (or sooner!) I would love to try the Sheamoisture Sheabutter. Can you get it locally or just by ordering it?

Unfortunately, right now the only place you can buy it is in New York City. :( Stinks, right? However, there are several places you can order it online, like Health Life Line (although Echokitten has had bad experiences with them and strongly advises you not to order from them) or Sistas Place, which I recommend. Their shipping is pretty cheap, and you can get travel-sized items or sample sizes of many of their products, including the SheaMoisture. In fact, I have an order coming from them right now. :D

Wow! Wouldn't that be a hike for you? The best part was that it was only $7.99. From what I've read on here some curlies have paid 9.99 to order it off the internet.

I prefer more liquidy leave ins. My mainstay is Paul Mitchell The Conditioner, and I'm currently trialling Devacurl B'Leavin. I also sometimes apply Elasta QP Feels Like Silk gel on dry hair, as a leave in and it works really well, though it needs to be sealed in by a styler or a butter.

Regular rinse-out conditioners used as leave ins, as well as most creamy leave ins tend to leave my hair dull and make it behave in an odd way. In spite of that fact, I bought the SheaMoisture Leave in and plan on trying it in a few days time. I was gonna order it from Sista's Place for $9 plus shipping, but I looked for it in the BSS and found it for $5.99 (plus tax).
