Ecostyler Gel

I'm interested in trying the ecostyler gel for its volume reducing and curl elongation properties, plus being that its a heavy duty gel, I was hoping that it would hold up in Florida's 80% and up humidity. I was about to pick up one of the massive jar's at Sally's Beauty Supply, except I faced a slight problem. It comes in 5 varying colors and strengths, including a brown protein gel that looked really intimidating. Has anyone had any experience with these gels? Particularly the clear or protein one? TIA!

A curly on Fotki (Kinkerbelle) uses the brown one over a leave-in and loves it. If you search for her name she has some photos with Ecostyler. I tried it but since I have maybe 1/3 the volume she has it didn't work for me.

Thanks! I took a look at her page and went ahead to make the purchase. I posted the results of using the gel in my fotki. I actually didnt experience quite the volume reduction or elongation I was expecting, but I was a little tenative in the application, next time I'll use more. I'm excited to see if I can achieve 2nd day hair or even 3rd with this gel, however its dubious considering my daily exercise regiment tends to kill those ambitions.

    The protein scares me too.
I already know how my hair acts with protein in it, I don't need anymore convincing.
Sigh* I would have loved to try it though.
    strickly CG.

I like your results with Dessert Essence. I don't understand why you want to reduce your volume. You curls look medium not super thick.

I actually ended up getting both the clear and the brown =). Both gels allowed me to wear my hair down without florida humidity getting the best of my hair. I found that the brown gel gave me fuller/chunkier curls while the clear gave me a skinnier yet more elongated look, and slightly more hold. Depending on how much of each gel I use, I can pretty much produce the same results with either one. The only downfall is the drying time, an additional 45-1hr more than my standard 2-3 hours w/plopping.

It has been years since I have used a brown gel. The last time I used brown was back in 1994. So, I have been intimidated by it with my hair being natural. I had only used it on relaxed hair. I might give it a try. However, I like the clear gels best for some reason. I guess I believe that it will not add some color film to my hair. I guess with my hair being dark brown that wouldn't matter so much. Clearer gels seem to add more shine to the hair.
