I brush my teeth at the sink, as I only shower once a day.

This ties in to a funny story from last week..... I was helping sell merchandise at a Carbon Leaf concert, and I discovered their lead singer brushes his teeth wherever he can sit down and get into his backpack. He couldn't get into the dressing room area for some reason, so he wandered over to the merchandise booth, sat down, pulled out his toothbrush and paste. He then proceeded to brush without water, and I guess swallowing the toothpaste. The worst part was when someone walked up to buy merch and he wandered over to talk, putting the toothbrush down where he'd been sitting. Then promptly sat on the brush, pulled it out from under himself, and started brushing again.

Yeah, rock stars, what heart throbs.

I do mine in the sink. I'm mildly compulsive about brushing my teeth, and usually end up brushing them about five times a day, so it's most convenient to just use my toothbrush in the sink. When I lived in a dorm my freshman year of college, I brushed my teeth in the shower in the morning and then in the sink at night. The sinks were always really busy in the morning, so I saved time by doing it in the shower.

In my room. I'll just wet my toothbrush in the sink and go sit on my bed to brush my teeth. I like to look at the clock to see how long I'm brushing them for. They say you should brush for at least two minutes.

In the sink. Brushing in the shower freaks me out because I take warm showers and brushing my teeth with warm water would make me gag.

I do both. I have like 18 toothbrushes from all the traveling, so I keep one in the shower, one at the sink, one in my purse, one in the car.....

But I usually brush everytime I am in the shower and at the sink if I don't shower first thing and at night...

Sink. I think shower brushing is gross. Don't ask me why because I can't tell you why; it's just gross to me.

I also brush about 87 times a day and have toothbrushes everywhere, including at work (of course), in my purse, and in the glove box of my car. I have a tiny toothpaste tube in my purse too. You just never know when the urge or need to brush is going to happen.

If you're brushing your teeth two minutes at a time, BE CAREFUL. That's a good way to wear your gums thin.

My boyfriend carries a toothbrush and tube of paste on the inside of his jacket everywhere! He also has a brush in his glovebox, at my house....just in case. Teehee. We went to Boston on New Year's Eve and he forgot his toothbrush  so we had to go buy that and some toothpaste at like 10pm in a drugstore in the middle of the city. He has a little OCD. :D

May I just ask a question of those who brush in the shower...how did you come to this practice? I would never have thought to do it there.

I thought it was a guy thing. I've only ever heard of guys doing it, usually guys who spent some time in dorms, fraternities, or the military.

are the people who brush their teeth in the shower the same people that pee in the shower???

one or the other, ok. anyone do both?

i guess the bathtub can be used for numerous things.

    'cause thats kinda gross.

How is brushing your teeth in the shower on the same scale of peeing in the shower?

It makes sense to me to brush in the shower because the water works as a water-pick.

its not on the same scale. im just wondering if people who brush their teeth in the shower view the shower as a multi-functional area for other things as well....or just for brushing.

Once, when I was a teenager, I was late for school and I was rushing. I brushed my teeth in the shower in an effort to save time and have done it ever since.

I probably didn't word the poll correctly, but I brush more than once a day, so I brush my teeth in the shower in the morning but at the sink at night.

Another compulsive tooth brusher here. I start at the sink and then migrate - usually I go stare at our aquarium since now that it's upstairs, I don't see the little fellas often.

Sometimes DH and I end up staring at eachother or following eachother around while we brush - it's quite funny actually but usually results in me spitting toothpaste everywhere from laughing.

I'm also a wanderer. Bathroom to my bedroom, put away a little laundry... off to the kids' rooms, pick up a little mess here and there...

    I multi-task. :D

I have drool issues so no wandering and brushing for me.

Bounce, my husband stands behind me while I brush, making the same faces I'm making. It never fails to leave me snorting toothpaste out my nose.

He also sometimes does it when I'm putting in my contacts or putting on mascara, but not often. I had to ask him to stop when I nearly stabbed myself in the eye with the mascara wand!

OK.. am I the only one who never realized that people brush their teeth in the shower?! I always do it at the sink because I usually shower at night, and it never dawned on me that people brush in the shower.

BTW... am I the only one who is having trouble seeing some of the member pictures and emoticons? They come up as broken images....

I learned about brushing in the shower from my roommate my freshman year of college. She had always done it, and it seemed like a good way to save some time in the morning. I'm glad I didn't pick up any of her other grooming habits, though - she had some weird ones... like ironing her pants while wearing them.

I usually brush my teeth at the sink, but have often brushed them in the shower too. Probably to save time since I'm in there cleaning everything anyway. My husband often brushes in the shower, but usually only if I'm in the bathroom, cause then he can ask me for his toothbrush. I HAVE to brush w/ warm water. My teeth are so sensitve to cold, it's pratically bath water temp at the sink when I brush my teeth. I also pee in the shower too, since that came up earlier. I don't know why people freak out about peeing in the shower, it's just pee, and it's not like I'm rinsing w/ it, it goes down the drain. Plus it's MY pee. I don't want anyone else peeing on me. Okay, where is this conversation going? I'm done now.

I brush mine in the shower. I know some people who brush theirs in the sink after they take a shower. That grosses me out, it's way to long to be having a dirty mouth. I don't do it before I get in the shower because at 3:30am I might fall asleep while brushing.
