Mop Top/ Fuzzy Duck gel

ok - I'm interested in the Mop Top Anti-frizz gel, and the Fuzzy duck gel. Does anyone know how they compare to eachother, and how do they compare to other gels? Gels I'm familiar with are:
BRHG
CK
Angell
[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCare-Arc-AnGell-p-567.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-devacare-arc-angell]Arc Angell[/buylink]
Sebastian Hi Contrast
Aura Hypo

if anyone can compare the mop top gels to any of these, I would be eternally gratefull!

I use the Mop Top anti-frizz and Fuzzy Duck gel all the time and really like both of them. The regular Mop Top gel has a very light hold (not quite enough hold for me) and is curl enhancing -- doesn't even come close to the hold in BRHG, which I find way too strong for me and leaves me with MAJOR crunch. The only thing I can use the BRHG for is putting a tiny dab of it on top of the Mop Top and that gives me just about the right amount of hold. The Fuzzy Duck has a little more hold and I can use that without a stronger gel. I find both of these more curl enhancing & moisturizing than ArcAngell. For me, AA leaves my hair feeling dry - I'm not crazy about it, but haven't used it in a long time, either. I find CK helps control frizz but that's about it - personally, I don't put it in the gel category at all, although it is one. I have to always use another gel with Curlkeeper. I haven't used any of the other gels you've listed, so no help there.

    Hope that helps some.

Thank-you... that really helps. I agree about the ck - I wouldn't normally define it as a gel, either!

I have them both....like the other poster said, the Mop Top is nice but has very little hold. The Fuzzy Duck is one of my favorites....it has medium to good hold (nothing like BRHG) and leaves my hair clumpy and shinier than usual.

    I hope that helps,

I like MopTop better than Fuzzy Duck, but for the reasons already cited. Fuzzy Duck has too much hold for me--makes my hair feel dry and crunchy if I use more than a drop. The MopTop gel is more forgiving, defines my curls just as well as FD, and looks less producty. Both of these are far superior to Angell, which I am thisclose to tossing out 3/4 full.

So how are you guys using Fuzzy Duck and/or Mop Top. I just received mine and tried it (Fuzzy Duck) last night for the first time. I may be in love. I may have actually found something that gives me clumps. *heart pounding, mouth salivating*. I'm trying to stay grounded and not get too excited.

I have a fear of new products, so I didn't use it by itself (I'm such a chicken). I mixed a little boots, sebastion hi-contrast gel and then fuzzy duck together in my hand. It's was like a big goober (sorry!) in my hand. I stirred it as much as I could and then tried to mix it between my 2 hands (like we had to do with the GF curl creme) and then distribute it in my hair. I was very worried it wouldn't distribute. It formed into a few soft (slimey) clumps. *heart starts beating faster*. I kept scrunching - waiting for the clumps to fall apart into stringlettes (as always), but it didn't happen. So......I plopped for a few minutes then flipped my hair over. I did my normal re-scrunching and still had big clumps, like I've NEVER achieved before. *heart is now ready to jump out of my skin*. I did mess up the back (as I normally do), but it was better than normal.

Onto the sad part. It was bed time, so I couldn't let it dry to see what would happen. I pineappled and went to bed with very wet hair. *so sad*. This morning, I believe I had some potentially great hair, but had to put it up. I had to leave an hour early today, plus it's over 90 degrees and humid - DRAT!

So, I will be definately playing with and keeping this product (if it repeats). Just wondering how you guys are using it? How much are you using? Are you using anything else? Tell me everything...........

Hi I love Fuzzy duck too! I use Ck first (may not need this once humidity goes down, not sure?) then i use about 2 nickel size globs on Fuzzy duck. i scruch and plop and then add about 2 pea size or less of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]re:coil[/buylink] before diffusing. I LOVE Fuzzy Duck gel - it's an HG for me. I have also found recently that if I use the Mop Top Detangler & Refresher Spray before applying the gel, I get even better hair. The routine that has been working for me lately is:

After co-washing (I shampoo maybe once a week), condition with Mop Top Daily Lemon Sage Co, pull up & clip while I finish the rest of my shower, then take out clip & stick my head under the water for a second, then comb conditioner through, rinse out upright, then flip upside down & finish rinsing; gently squeeze one time to get some water out of hair. While still upside down, spray in Mop Top Detangler & Refresher spray, comb through, then scrunch really well. Smooth & scrunch in maybe a dime size amount of FD in the back section of my head (near the nape while upside down), scrunch just a little bit with MF towel, then smooth & scrunch in a big quarter sized glob of FD; scrunch really well; get out of shower, very lightly scrunch with MF towel and immediately plop for approximately 30 minutes while getting ready & then diffuse.

I thought the shampoo was very harsh for a sulfate-free shampoo. It's much stronger than my Elucence shampoo, which actually has a sulfate in the ingredients. The conditioner is very nice, but wasn't nice enough for me to justify repurchasing it. $18 is a lot for a 12 oz bottle, when I can buy a liter of Elucence or Kenra for the same amount.

I found the shampoo very harsh as well. I really like the conditioner, though. I don't need very much for my hair so, for me, it lasts a long time.

It strips all the moisture. If my hair feels squeaky after I wash it, that's not a good sign.

The shampoo I got in my kit says clarifying so I was expecting it to be really stronger. Maybe save it for build up or before a deep treatment at least thats what I thought I would do with it. Maybe use it before I color the next time

I love Mop Top Anti-Frizz Gel... just not the price.. At first, I didn't like it because it didn't have much hold, but I LOVE the clumps it gives me! I use La Bella Max Hold Gel mixed in with in.

I also did not care for the shampoo. The regular conditioner was not moisturizing enough for my hair but I do like the deep conditioner.

I like the Mop Top shampoo in small doses. It's definitely drying, but at least it seems strong enough to wash out all the gunk. I also like the conditioner. It detangles decently, smells great, and a little dab will actually do me. The Fuzzy Duck is supposed to be basically the same, but formulated for kids, but those products seem harsher to me. Plus they smell like icky strawberry.

Thanks to everyone who reccommended Fuzzy Duck. I broke down and ordered it, and I think I love it. I haven't had it for many days, so I may change my mind, but so far, it is performing fantastically - beautifull clumps (without being sausage-like), shiney, nice hold (stronger than I expected, which is a good thing). I was expecting it to frizz up at the end of the day, but it hasn't the two days I've used it, so far so good! *fingers crossed*

So thanks, guys. I was hesitant because of the price(and the pile of gels that turned out so-so sitting on my counter), but so glad I bit the bullet!

Yep, that's it. It's not cheap, but for me it's worth it because it's one of the few gels that really works for me. I rotate my gels so much that it's lasted me a long time, though. You can get it in liter size, too. I can't remember the price for that, but I'm sure it's a better deal.

I'm still loving the Fuzzy Duck! :love2: I don't use it with anything except usually some kind of light leave-in. I don't think the bottle is all that small. I have below the shoulder length hair - and a lot of it - and I really don't need to use tons of it, plus I rotate it with other products, so it's lasted quite awhile. Next time I order it, though, I'm getting me a liter; that's gotta be a better deal.

    Hello,
I am still using Fuzzy duck and i love it! I have tried so so many different products but that works the best for me. if you buy it and don't like it i am sure it would get snapped up on the swap board.

btw I usually mix with a little [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]re:coil[/buylink], which doesn't really help since that is $$ too.
