Another failed attempt.....

I have a pretty good arsenal of products and ideas for routines/combos (thanks to this board) and I've mostly stayed on the CG course despite MANY bad results over the last month or so.

Here is how the disaster unfolded tonight:

1. Poo: Beyond the Zone Curly poo - just bought it today - no it's not CG, but I was a sucker for the packaging and I am beginning to have my doubts about being 100% CG. (plus I had some jojoba oil in my hair from another small disaster this morning - that I felt I need to sulfate WASH out - it was GROSS)

WOW it was super moisturizing - it felt like I already had conditioner in my hair - I was totally NOT expecting that.....

2. Condish: DevaCare One Condish - I hesitated, but, feeling the pressure to keep things moving I put it in.

3. Curl enhancer: BTZ Noodlehead in sopping wet hair

4. Gel: Angell over noodlehead hair still sopping wet

(starting to have major doubts at this point - not getting the "good hair" vibe)

5. Scrunched/plopped in micro towel 10 min.

6. Took it down and BLECH - limpy wimpy (but soft) waves.

7. (starting to feel desperate) Need....more....curl....enhancement: HE Totally Twisted mousse

8. As it's drying I notice a halo forming - I am flying blind at this point, really - so I grabbed the Satinwear to try to smooth things over.

END RESULT: a frizzy, flyaway, limp set of barely waves (with straightening canopy as it's drying)

I just dont know if I have the patience for this! Gunky, dry, flat, frizzy - no proteins, cones, sulfates - overhelmed, confused, frustrated!

Straightening now just seems like it was soooo much easier! I am wondering if I was just not meant to have pretty curls. On a bad curl/wave day I dont look presentable at ALL. On a good one (at least the best I've had) it's just O.K. (and the "OK" doesn't last half a day)

:banghead: Thanks for listening!

Ahhh, I feel your pain, and I'm so sorry. When this happens to me I apply a DT and sleep on a old shirt for the night. In the AM, I grab a sulfate free poo and start all over.

thanks curlyincolorado - I think it's just been a long day - thanks for reading my "saga"!

Although now seeing your reply and your siggy, my PJ wants to try YOUR routine LOL I put the Elucence and Curlkeeper along with some [buylink=]Re:coil[/buylink] in my curlymart basket but the shipping is $16.40! the products together are only like $23... I want to buy at curlymart to support this board/place b/c it's totally awesome but.....ouch.

although I am sure I will bit the bullet - just need a few more days to resolve myself with the $16 shipping! LOL

    thanks again....

Hmm, I think your hair may be just a little over-moisturized. I'm a fine wavy-curly too, and although my hair is fairly porous, it can occasionally get too much moisture. When that happens, my hair becomes extremely soft, frizzy, and somehow simultaneously flat and poofy. It's pretty hideous, actually.

I find that the best thing to do is clarify with a good ACV rinse or shampoo of your choice and start over. I noticed that you used both Noodlehead and Angell. Angell doesn't really play nice with a lot of styling creams; mixing it with practically any styling cream with very few exceptions will result in formation of gross little white boogers of styling cream, which dry into a gross, dulling film on your hair even if they're too small to notice when wet. The same thing used to happen to me when I combined Angell with Curls Rock, which I think Noodlehead was designed to imitate.

    thanks skiddoo

yes, "today is a new day" (chicken little") so I plan to try washing with my clairifier, some [buylink=]JC aloeba[/buylink] or maybe a little one C (just less amt and leave in less time) and then just using the noodlehead curl spray (didn't buy the creme b/c I thought it would be too heavy). That should tell me whether the curl spray is actually working. I may add the frizz fighter (beyond the zone). Or I may just do what one of the MUA gals does - BTZ frizz fighter then HE totally twisted - the TT definitely encourages curls on my very curly DD. I will just have to use a sulfate again tomorrow though b/c of the frizz fighter....

Anyway I know I just got too aggressive yesterday but the I never expected the noodlehead shampoo to be so moisturizing :) And being the "A" type personality I am, I dont like to deviate from my original plan if I can help it LOL It just threw me off!

Plus I think I keep trying to make the cocktails like I see so many of you do, but I think my hair is not a mixed drink kinda gal....I need to just tell myself "K.I.S.S." (keep it simple stupid!) for my ultra fine hair :)

I need to get a trim too.

    thanks :)
