New CG girl who is frustrated

I'm SUPER frustrated with this whole CG thing...I thought I started it a few days ago, but turns out the condish i was using has cones and the evil -XANE that I just learned about yesterday. I recently ordered some styling products from other girls on this site, and I just realized they probably will ALSO not be CG....and now I'm questioning if I will be able to stick to it. I am getting some [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]Re:coil[/buylink], Mop C-System, [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Jessicurl-Rockin-Ringlets-Styling-Potion-p-100.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=jessicurl-rockin-ringlets]Rockin Ringlets[/buylink] (Jessicurl I think is fine) but people are saying after sticking to CG they do see a difference so who knows...its just a lot of information and so many big words to remember which are the sorta-kinda ok cones.
Regardless, I hope I can find some hope for my hair.
I am currently a 2C who wants to be a 3...I'm trying for anything that will make my limp boring waves into bouncy curls...ANYONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

jo - your hair sounds a lot like mine. I don't know about all of those products, but I do this [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]re:coil[/buylink] is CG. Let me know how you like it ... I'm trying to get some extra money to buy some! Good luck!!

I have been feeling exactly the way you described! One minute I am hyped up then I will read way too much and get all kinds of info on why CG might not work. Its so confusing. I went out and spent money on stuff, got the wrong conditioner and got frustrated. Anyway I think I have the right stuff now. I am taking it one day at a time. I can't give you any help or advice but just to say I know how you feel! I think reading too much is not a good thing. At least for me.

I bought some things at first that didn't work out either. All the info overwhelms me too, so I've started copying and pasting anything that looks promising, info on different ingredients, etc, into a Word document that I can update easily and print to take to the store if I want.

I'm sure I look funny staring at the bottles and consulting my paper, but right now it's too much to remember it all.

Oh I felt really silly studying the shampoo and conditioner bottles at the store. People probably thought I was crazy. I had my little paper too...looking back and forth, sometimes reading the same bottle two or three times.

You've got to give your scalp and hair time to adjust to the CG method - usually 4 - 6 weeks. Your hair may or may not get curlier, but it should become more healthy. It takes time to experiment with different products and methods, so have fun playing with your hair!

I know it's frustrating up front, but you have to give your scalp time to adjust. We all strip the oils off our hair for years then want it to readjust in a few days. Check out my fotki - there are alot of pictures there of the mess I had shen I first started CG. Now I have VERY few bad hair days. Way less than when I was using SLS and cones. Hang in there! It's worth it!!

HeatherDawn, your waves are similar to the type I have (only much healthier looking) Your pics give me hope cuz I could see my hair possibly one day looking that nice with a little tlc. Yours is gorgeous! It sure helps to hear (and see) the success of others. Makes it worth the wait.

Aw thanks! Like I said it was a mess at first, but as your hair adjusts things will fall into place. The hardest part for me is just finding products! LOL! As soon as my friend opens her website I will hook y'all up!

Nice highlights HeatherDawn...My hair is naturally dark brown and I have tons of highlights which I love, but I wonder if my highlights are part of the reason why I lost some of my curl...anyway beautiful curls...and what website are you talking about?

I've found some of the cheapest hair products make my hair looks its best -- I love VO5's vanilla mint for co-wash and conditioner, makes my hair nice and shiny!

I know you are wanting some curl definition, have you tried [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]AG Recoil[/buylink] (available in curlmart www.curlmart.com)? It's really great at providing a little curl "oomph" and helps with my frizz.

Yes hockeymom...I actually am expecting a bottle of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]re:coil[/buylink] within the next few days and I can't wait to get it...how do you use it? Like do you put in on soaking wet hair or scrunch dry it first and then put it on? I will prob post something else when I get it to get some tips on ways to try it so I can see what works for me, if it even does!
