What does crispy hair mean?

I am again experimenting with using less product in my hair. What I did was I smoothed on some grapseed oil while I was in the shower with wet hair, I then conditioned with Elucence. I left a lot of it in when I rinsed and I spritzed with a little coconut milk and left it alone. It dried with very little frizz (and we are havin insane heat here in Philly) it's curly and shiney without being greasy...I do notice that it looks more producty than I expected for using no products. That's mainly in my canopy...that part is a little crispy. Is that because of the dryness of that area...is this telling me I need a lot more moisture there? I know my canopy hair is finer in texture than the rest...is that it?

Overall...it looks really good...I would like to get rid of the crispy thing though!

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

It could be product build up.

Really? I guess that could make fine hair crispy. I don't think it's build up over time because I am usually good with clarifying and stuff, maybe just leaving in any conditioner on this finer part of my hair is going to make it crispy. I wonder if I can just scrunch it out...cause I can't avoid that section...I mean it's the canopy so it's on top of all the rest of my hair. It's so frustrating...it's a totally different texture than the rest.

Usually I get that crispy feeling in parts of my hair when I put too much product in one spot. HTH

Pure grapeseed oil made my hair feel funky and kinda dry like that. My skin liked it though.

Really? Well I just got my B2B Pomegranite today...I'll try that tonight. That's really moisturizing right so I won't use and grapeseed oil. I'll even do an ACV rinse before I apply the conditioner. Then maybe I'll try rinsing some of the conditioner out and putting a little Suave professionals gel in (which doesn't have much hold but really helps with frizz) We'll see how that looks. What do you's think!

I would put stuff in upside down...but my hair is SO thick that I'm afraid I would never get any hold or frizz control on the top.

You could do like I do. Apply your stuff upside down, then flip over and scrunch some into the top. I like to do it that way cuz I'm curlier underneath and can't get it all the way through the underneath.
    I'm a 3b, with 3c underneath.

Used to be CG, now I'm not. Using Suave Aloe & Waterlily shampoo & condish, JoiWhip, BRHG, Suave Aloe gel, Aussie Tizz No Frizz, and anything else that looks good!

well if you mean crunchy then you could just scrunch out the crunch like a lot of people on here do, actually many people like crunchy hair...but if its crispy as in dry then you might want to moisturize

I might have to try that.

It's not quite crunchy, but the hairs in that area are much finer than the rest so they seem to get crispy. I guess maybe I put too much product on them. The amount I used was fine for the rest of my hair but not that part so I'm gonna have to try the upside down thing. I used the B2B and rinsed some out, I did smooth on a little gel (suave professionals) so we'll see if I get the crispy feeling....if I do than I'll try to apply any gel upside down tomorrow.

Oh yeah...I did do an ACV rinse first.
