Running Crazy!!!

in Hair Type 4
What are good products to use for defining your curls. I keep seeing all of these products that others talk about like Jessie curl, and Curly Puddy in the forums but I've never seen any of these things in stores or anything. I'm running around in Sally's Beauty, Walmart and K-mart trying to find something similar and I don't know what to look for. Are there any other things I can use out of those stores that could possibly give the same results as those other expensive products or should I try to order the good stuff? :? Working with a budget right now...getting kinda tight!!
4a, OS Cottony, Spirals and Waves randomly scattered over my head

Henna, Afro Detangler, KBB hair cream, Vitamin E oil, Qhemet AOHC, AND no more letting my hair dry curly... darn knots are driving me crazy!!:happy7:

I would definitely get rid of those ends. Having those ends removed can make a world of difference in how products will behave on your hair. If you do cut the ends, make sure to use sharp hair cutting shears.
You can twist your hair into several sections and trim the ends until the relaxed ends are removed. Just be conservative in your cutting...you can always go back and remove more, but you can't glue on the removed hair.
Good luck! I was scissor happy last Friday, and I am very glad that I made the cut. I now have really short hair again...but it looks a lot better than having fuzzy, frizzy ends from the bad haircut I received last July.
Let's us know how it turns out. Oh, use a bit of a leave-in conditioner with the Jelly. And you don't need a lot.
Name some specific pruducts maybe folks can come up with close relatives on the retail shelves:
[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Kinky-Curly-Curling-Custard-p-778.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=kinkycurly-curling-custard]KCCC[/buylink] = Aubrey Organics Mandarin Magic Jelly (AO MM is better IMO)
Jessicurl what?
[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Pudding-p-578.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-pudding]Miss Jessies Curly Pudding[/buylink] = I would try ECOstyler or IC Fantasia gel mixed with a leave-in conditioner and your favorite oil, plus an extremely strong fragrance that clogs up your airways, and a little glycerin.
[buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Blended-Beauty-Curly-Frizz-Pudding-p-376.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=blended-beauty-curly-frizz-pudding]Blended Beauty Curly Frizz Pudding[/buylink] = lottabody setting lotion + conditoner + castor or coconut oil + glycerin.
Check out the hair recipies forum and you can find some good, inexpensive ones.

Playing with my hair is a hobby. Fluffy, fine natural 4a. Goal= Healthy, beautiful hair that retains its length.
I agree! (and the KCC makes my scalp itch)

One tip for styling: make sure hair is fairly wet, not dripping when styling. I notice that if I remove a lot of water from hair when I apply products, my hair dries frizzy and dry looking. But if I leave in quite of bit of water, my hair looks looks a lot better.

Get yourself some pretty earrings, wear some lipstick (if you wear it), some pretty scarves and smile.
I find myself playing with my hair all of the time too.
Congratulations!
I'm sorry about your dad's comments. Unfortunately, not everyone will support your decision to go natural.
I agree with you about the showers! I actually look forward to styling my hair every day now. It is so much faster and easier.
