Curls in Literature

I was just reading a book in the Bloodhound mystery series (don't ask, my sister has a bloodhound and sent them to me!), and discovered that the main character has curls (although she also mentions brushing them, so I suspect the author has straight).

Just got me thinking... what other literary characters have curls?

Rachel in Sharon Shinn's "Archangel," described as having golden, riotous curls that Gabriel longs to plunge his hands into.

I have been brain storming. and have come up with a charicter in the book Aisling of Eire written by Dorothy Keddington. In it Aisling has beautiful long red hair and her father has dark uncontrolable curls. If anyone has read it lets start a dicussion! Thanks!

In Jane Eyre, unfortunately, one of the girls at the boarding school (not a major character) has naturally curly hair, but she is required to chop it off! :x  :!:

In The Awakening by Kate Chopin, the main character's best friend, Madame Ratignolle, is described has having beautiful wavy or curly hair that simply won't stay fastened up.

I'm pretty sure that Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) has curly hair, once she outgrows the red braids.

In the Ramona Quimby series by Beverly Cleary, Ramona's classmate Susan has "boing-boing" curls. In Ramona the Pest Ramona is tantalized by Susan's curls, because she wants to "boing" them so badly–and there's a pretty memorable passage when she finally gets her chance.

The main character, Claire, in one of my favorite books, The China Garden is described as having black, thick, wiry, curly hair. But of course in the illustration on the cover of the edition have, her silloutte does not.
