MissJessie's CG?

Is miss Jessie's [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Meringue-p-576.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-meringue]curly meringue[/buylink] curly girl friendly?

I used it at one point but my hair was longer, I used to shampoo weekly and very clueless about what was safe to put in my hair and what wasnt. I used it as a 'gelee' to smooth down my hair without using a brush. It worked well at the time.

Here are the Ingredients;
Purified Water, Carbomer, PVP, VP/VA Copolymer, Vegetable Glycerin, Triethanolamine, Wheat Germ Oil, Lemongrass Extract, Sodium Hydroxymethylglyclycinate, Tetrasodium, EDTA, FD&C Yellow 5, Fragrance. [/b]
strickly CG.

So why did my hair feel extremely dry and frizzy every time I washed it out?
And I remember having to shampoo and dt repeatedly to get my hair back to its normal pattern.

That sounds like a gel, and I never put a gel directly on my hair. I layer it over a light leave-in.

I don't even know what its supposed to be LOL. Its really creamy though. I don't know if its supposed to be used as a gel. I need an alternative if my hair is always going to dry out everytime I use it.

Speaking of dry hair my hair has been esperiencing a dry spell I don't know what I'm doing wrong .
Its summer, I wash my hair with a little condtioner everyday use [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-BLeave-In-p-434.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-bleavein]devacurl B'leave in[/buylink] and then use fantacia IC on top but my hair still looks dry and brittle...and I doubt its over condtioned becaus3 when I wash it... it doesn't feel 'soft or mushy' sighhhh*

how long are you leaving the conditioner in? when i do it i leave it on for the whole shower and then rinse it out. my showers are like 20 minutes.

in the mornings i don't use any gel because i have my own natural hold. what i do is put a few drops of conditioner into a squirt bottel and then fill it up with water and spritz that on my hair. that makes it soft and keeps it moisturized.

have you done any deep conditioning treatments?

maybe you should switch conditioners. i use VO5 vitaburst conditioner and i've never had a problem with dryness or brittleness from that.

i think all of ms jessie's products are made to provide somewhat of a hold. the curly mereing should be a light hold product. i'm not that much of a fan of her products. a good curl cream that i've found is the myhoneychild type 4 curl creme.

    Hey, Thanks for responding.
My routine doesn’t sound too far from yours except I use gel over my leave in.
I’ve done at least two deep treatments since I last shampooed. One after I shampooed and the other about 2 days back Since my hair has been acting up-very dry and frizzy.

Last night I oiled my hair with coconut oil and wash it out this morning with some more conditioner. I see a little improvement but, at the sametime the frizzes are still there

Maybe it's your styling products. The [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/DevaCurl-BLeave-In-p-434.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=devacurl-bleavein]B'Leave-in[/buylink] made my hair feel terrible when I used it. And it made my hair look like a frizzball.

Or maybe you have protein build-up?

    Intesting point.
Did it at least work the first 4 or 5 times you used it?

Protein build up could be another reason...thank you
V05 does have protein in it and so does fantacia IC I guess I'll just clarify again and see what happens.

P.s. Today I water rinsed instead of using a conditioner to wash. My hair looks ok...It still has that dull frizzy look. Yesterday by 5:00pm I already had a halo of frizz. This is fustrating. How do you guys fight frizz? I see a lot of curlies these days and most of them have little to zero frizz. I'm really curious.

I tried it several times. It always instantly made my hair feel weird - coarse and tangled.

A small amount of frizz is a fact of life for me. My hair has 3 different textures blended together, but 4a texture is dominant. A good (rinse out) conditioner, a creamy leave-in and a gel that dries a little firm are what I use to minimize frizz.

You said that your hair looked dull and frizzy - that sounds like build-up to me.

It could be the IC Fantasia Gel, especially since the 2nd ingrident is Glycerin. I used that and my hair totally felt dry after using it everyday. Maybe try to find another gel to see if that works for you.

BTW, I use the IC over a leave-in and even oil my hair at night, but it still felt really dry after a bit.
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.

I doubt that it's the glycerin. Glycerin is a humectant - it draws moisture to it. When used in hair products it keeps hair moist (and usually makes hair stay wet for a long time).

I'm really PO'ed. I wouldn't have ordered it had I know that the ingredients had changed. Paraffinum Liquidum is a fancy way of saying liquid paraffin - which is a petroleum product. I'm going to see if I can return it.

    Hey everyone,
I didn't realize [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/Miss-Jessies-Curly-Meringue-p-576.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=miss-jessies-curly-meringue]curly meringue[/buylink] had Petroleum in it. But then again when I purchased it I didn't see any ingredients on the container...strange right?

Hey curlyQT I was also starting to second guess Fantasia IC because typically gels are really drying but then again I've been using fantacia for a while and I really don't know of any other gel quite as CG friendly enough and affordable as IC.
