need a gel recommendation for Florida humidity!

Hi,
I'm going to be in Key West & Miami this coming weekend into next week. Any good gel recommendations to battle the humidity? I prefer minimum crunch if any at all. I have 3b hair, a good amount of it. Thanks....

Maybe the Herbal Essence Set Me Up Gel? There is some crunch, but for some gals it works great in the humidity.

I just got back from Florida (Jupiter) on Sunday. I used CK + HE SMU, then scrunched in a bit of [buylink=http://www.curlmart.com/AG-Recoil-p-24.html?utm_source=naturallycurly.com&utm_medium=text-link&utm_content=curltalk-post-text&utm_campaign=ag-hair-cosmetics-recoil-curl-activator]re:coil[/buylink] into the ends, and it worked out pretty good. No frizz, although hair was curlier (and not as flat) after I learned to use about 2x my normal amount of CK and gel.

That being said, my hair was still weird while I was down there. Usually (even in the humid summer of NC) I have s-waves on the top with ringlets at the bottom. (I think the weight of this much hair pulls the top half into the s-shape.) But in Florida, I had NO ringlets to speak of, yet I still had a ton of shrinkage. :?: It was like I had used one of those wavy-crimper irons from the late 80's - no ringlets but very very tight s-waves throughout the canopy all the way to the ends. (For math geeks, think of a sine curve. ) Very strange!

My mom lives in Orlando, and she swears by Curlkeeper down there.

I didn't have much luck w/ it this winter - must've been too dry - but as soon as I started to notice frizzies w/ the warm weather, I broke it out.

Layering too many products, or using too many creamy products causes frizz for me, so I've been using CK by raking first, and then scrunching a couple of puddles through very wet hair. I let that set for several minutes, and then I scrunch/blot. Then I let it air dry completely (or as much as possible) w/o touching it to reduce frizz. Then I smooth a bit of AVG over the top, and scrunch out the crunch while shaking and fluffing the roots to bring up volume.

Please excuse any typos. For the time being, we are blaming it on my computer.

I'm in Brandon. I use Set Me Up Mousse. It can get a little crunchy but is easily scrunched out and holds up well in the humidity.

I can't live without the ouidad line the climate control heat and humidity gel...I use that gel mixed with their curlquencher gel...I use curlkeeper as my 'base'...all on wet hair.

the ouidad products are truly the only ones I've ever found that gave me zero crunch but controlled the frizzies!

I second Ouidad CC. I used it in Key West, very high humidity and it kept it under control. :)

I hear Biosilk Rock Hard Gel holds up well in humidity. It does dry to crunchy but can be scrunched out once dry. I picked some up today to give it a whirl since nothing else is working for me here (coastal SC, almost GA). SMU was utter crap for me but that's just my personal experience.

I lived in Orlando for almost 3yrs but I straightened for most of it so I can't really help much on FL friendly gels. :(

ouidad, ok... I'll have to check that out. It's too late to order online, anywhere that sells this locally?

I never was a gel person, and I never thought I'd find anything that would control frizz and define curl down here. I've been using all Jessicurl products successfully all winter, but even CC is not enough. But recently I bought BRHG (old formula), and, after much experimentation, I ran out to get a back-up! I have decreased the amount of all products I normally use by about 1/3, and use a small amount (dime or smaller) of BRGH over everything. I still get some canopy frizz halo-another ongoing issue altogether-but I love the results this is giving me. The past two weeks alone, I've been out early morning in soupy, foggy, smoking cr@p, and my hair was spirally & defined through the length. Good luck, and enjoy your time all the way down south :) !

BRHG would probably be my choice for ultra-humid weather. It is crunchy! But sometimes that's the price I have to pay.
