Oils

How often does everyone use oil on their hair? Do you use the coconut? And how much do you use? Is almond oil okay to use too? And I've read some posts that say it is hard to get out of their hair. Is there a trick to getting this out easier? I'm a little nervous to do it now. But I think it would be great for moisturizing. :?

To be honest, oils are very good for moisturizing, but take heed--USE SPARINGLY!!!

I use it on my hair a few times a week as a deep treatment. I mix it (olive, coconut, or jojoba) with cheap conditioner and apply it to my hair, put it up in a bun while I work out, then rinse it out or use a shampoo bar to get it out, depending on whether or not I need to go out later that day.

I find that mixing it with conditioner helps me to not go overboard with the oil, as it can be hard to distribute by itself, especially in small amounts. I use one or two drops per quarter sized amount of conditoner and I put about 3 quarter drops in my hair. I get the moisture benefits of oil, plus a little extra protection from my shampoo bar when I wash.

I'm currently using coconut oil as a leave-in.

OK Blush--how much coconut oil do you use as your leave-in? I am certain much less than I have been lately! :D

Seriously, how much do you use, and how has it been working?

    No stringiness or greasiness?

 Well, I use both of my hands lightly covered with it twice in a row.. so enough to coat the length before I use gel. It does get pretty greasy on my hands, but I wash them. I'm not so sure about my hair because the bottom half is mildly relaxed, so it reacts differently than my natural growth. My natural hair could pass by with just coconut oil and no gel. All in all, right now I'm not having any grease problems, but my hair is always kindof stringy.
