UK Curlies... spill!!

Hiya,

This has probably been done elsewhere but if you're bored please answer my questions! I've found myself paying the rediculous shipping costs from the US so i'd like some ideas as to what you're using thats easily accessible!

Ok, so here are my questions (and i've answered)

1. Hair Type / thickness / length? 3b, medium thickness strands but not a lot of it so my hair's quite fine as a whole. Pulled straight its about BSL
2. CG / conditioner only? Yes, mostly. Although i've experimented a little with sulphate recently.
3. Hair likes? I keep going back to Aloeba but it can make my hair look waxy at times, i haven't experimented much with regular pharmacy conditioners. Regis Design Line Olive Oil condish (available in Regis Salons) is awesome for slip and leaves hair shiny but it has a little protien which i'm still not sure if my hair likes. Boots pink - nice ringlets but makes my hair a little poofy. I love shea moisture shea butter leave-in conditioner (available from Mariposa import). GF Curl & shine - still experimenting with. I've pretty much given up on finding a good gel in the UK. Thinking of buying the body shop honey condish. Daniel field stuff (curl enhancing condish) also nice! Massaging my scalp with a little Jojoba at night has saved my scalp and i'm sure it makes my hair grow over night!
4. Routine? CO wash every other morning, rinse upside down and then scrunch in whatever it is i'm using! Srunch a little with an old t-shirt and leave to air dry.
5. Coloured or natural? At the moment natural but seriously considering henna, also booked and then cancelled a salon colour, i'm such a chicken!!
fine 3b curls and spirals - first goal BSL!!

HG's - Body Shop Honey shampoo & conditioner and Shea Moisture leave-in condish which gives me lovely frizz-free bouncy curls. My PJ is calling me to experiment with gels again... argh!

    1) Hair- prob 3a if I can ever get it under control. It looks curlier than the 2's but nothing like as nice as the 3's I've seen pics of  , thickness, probably same as you, but it's so fluffed up that it looks like loads more.lengty- armpit level pulled straight
    2) CG- mostly, but I did wash my hair recently and thats possibly why it's worse than usual.....have also only just read the ingredients on my supposedly friendly condish to find it's got sodium lauryl sulphate!
    3) Hair likes- absolutely no idea. Still struggling to find something that controls the frizz, doesn't go stringy , and lasts all day....so I shall be watchig what others put.
    4) routine- co wash verye otehr morning, was going straight to scrunching in curl creme (boots) and scrunching with old T. But am trying this upside down lark, and whilst my hair is no longer stringy, it's defiently frizzier, so am still experimenting.
5- Coloured- yes, with Lush henna. Was using proper semi permanent hair colour, but it kept going brassy, so I'm using henna, cos it makes the grey bits golden- highlights for free.
(am presently waiting for a jessicurl trisal size to arrive to see if RR etc makes any difference to this mess on my head!)
    3a,fine.
using : a varied assortment till I work out what the heck is going on
scrunch or plop with old t shirt
    Garnier endurance hold gel

Mop clean system- hair feels stripped after using it. Anyone want it? then I can justify getting something different.

    1. Hair Type / thickness / length? 3b, very fine strands, its thinning as i get older too. just about BSL but the ends are tapering out very thin, it needs cut, and to look full and even at the ends its prob 2 inches below my shoulders.
    2. CG / conditioner only? no, it makes my hair too overconditioned.
    3. Hair likes? Well I had my winter routine sorted. It liked: Original Source Tangerine and Bergamot Shampoo, Jessicurl Aloeba or Aussie 3MM, rinsed all out, then any usual curl leave in (Toni&Guy which i snow discontinued, but Pantene ProV perfect curls is CG and works well) onlya dab tho, then a hard hold gel such as Wella Back to Basics Green Tea but it's also discontinued. For summer it seems I need to fight frizz, and hard hold gels arent working as well. So trying to work it out!
    4. Routine? Eek in the middle of sorting out my routine, but what used to work during winter was:
shampoo with sulfate (mild), condition, brush through, leave in for 3 mins, rinse allll out, squeeze water from hair, scrunch hair up to head. get a fingertip amount of curl cream, put through hair, then brush through again. Gel gel in palms, spread around, finger comb through, flip head over, scrunch hair up to scalp, flip back up and sort it out. Plop with a cotton tshirt for 15 mins, then blowdry for 30 mins but i can't blowdry lots and now its summer this doesnt work. So I've kinda modified to missing out cream entirely for styling and air drying, and rather than plopping, just using the same cotton tshirt to scrunch out excess moisture like i would with a towel.
    5. Coloured or natural? coloured, and getting it coloured again in a weeks time but thinking of putting some brown through there!

    cleanse: OS shampoo. PureNuffStuff cleanser.
    condition: Aussie 3MM. Jessicurl Aloeba.
style: B2Basics GreenTeaGel. T&G Curl Balm. JCarter Nourish&Shine.

I'm a 3b/c - thick once completely dry reaches middle of shoulder blades.

Not on CG and i wash every day alternate between Blended cutie silky swirls, curly Q's cleansing cream, Blended Beauty Cleansing conditioner and original source almond and coconut shampoo.

Hair likes - body shop honey shampoo and conditioner, Blended cutie/beauty shampoo and conditioner, curl junkie hibiscus and banana deep conditioner Blended beauty herbal reconditioner and blended beauty volcanic clean ash. Any BB/BC styling product

routine - wash every day depend if working (tie back in bun) or not then I'll leave it out and free, if leaving out, wash with blended beauty shampoo or cleansing conditioner, follow with blended beauty conditioner wash and rinse upside down apply products to soaking wet hair allow to air dry.

once a week : deep treat with curl junkie hibiscus and banana conditioner or BB herbal reconditioner
once a month : BB volcanic clean ash

everything i use is from www.naturalfrizz.co.uk apart from the curl junkie which i get from www.sistasplace.biz and it actually works out about the same

Hair type - 3b used to be clumpy now its more thin spirals

CG/Condish - Trying cg but I do actually use anita grants babassu bar (not totally sure of it yet..) which is more of a sporadic use when my hair feels really icky and I want to really really wash my scalp. THe co Im using at the moment is jessicurls alobea sp but Im not completely convinced. Although Ive only just started cg

Hair likes - lol I wish my hair could speak. For years before finding this site I just put any ol condish shampoo etc and it actually looked better than it does now. But with age and new found awareness of curly hair nono's my hair is being subjected to every product under the sun in two week periods. Shame not all of the products are easily posted to the UK. Reeeeally want to try Oyon. Previous to all this cg stuff I used Amberto Gianni curl friends even though I couldnt stand the smell it worked lol but its not cg.

Routine- What routine? Meh! Feeling totally overwhelmed by all the info on this site...but I kind of have some sort of routine. I dont like washing my hair every day (live in icky hard water London) although I did used to when I lived back home in Scotland (super fresh soft water). When I do wash my hair I wash with my shampoo bar and do a quick ACV (which Im pretty sure my hair likes, good texture) then I follow with aleoba arg however its spelt. I am trying so so hard not to use a hair dryer, so I air dry if I have time. As for styling product Ive been giving the homemade flax seed gel a go. I cant express how fed up I am with so many chemically products that smeeeeell so bad. I may even resort to just water lol a bit of limescale as a stylin aid...lovely.

Colored- Recently henna'd with lush...bit of an ongoing saga...trying to get rid of grey hair lol without all the chemical nasty

Hope this helps. TY to carmelcurly...Ive been looking for BB products for a while thanks for posting the link. How have you been getting on with them?

atrichoke_ milk I Really love the BB products, it's been a struggle my whole life trying to find products that work on my hair, from my mum not knowing what to use on my hair and through my teenage years thinking i had found something that works.
but with bb/bc i totally get that, from the shampoo all the way through to styling products and deep conditioners and even the oil i really do love the products i have been using them for about 6 months now and still working as well as they were when i first tried them.

my favourites so far are the happy nappy and soft curls and swirls and down and out styles.

lol I just noticed I called you carmelcurly meh, sowwee, curlycaramel great handle. I can related to the whole 'mum not knowing what use in my hair' most of the time my hair was laden with petrolum based products and a lot of brushing into harsh ponytails. Ggrrr even now shes still "You need to put more oil in your hair, it looks so dry" and forgets that my hair is nothing like hers which is more 4a
Random question but what does the bb line smell like? Slightly cautious about smells just now and I really want to order some. naturalfrizz do samples but its something like 2.99 for 2oz per sample. I may just give the stylin products a go.

the bb line states it has a cherry/almod scent, to me it smells just like marzipan and i really love the smell, I don't think they linger, but it wouldn't bother me if they did.

    1. Hair Type / thickness / length? 3b, VERY thick but fine. It shrinks to about three inches past shoulders mostly, sometimes way more, sometimes less.

    2. CG / conditioner only? Yes. :D

    3. Hair likes? To cause trouble. :P lol. It likes coconut oil and shea butter but doesn't like anything too oily.

    4. Routine? Occasionally co-wash but just comb through my hair while it has conditioner on it (Original Source) and then leave it to air-dry after washing most conditioner off:D.
I have to try not to move too much while it's drying because otherwise it goes poofy. I want to keep the number of products I use down to a minimum.

    5. Coloured or natural? At the moment it's coloured to it's natural colour because I'm growing out my roots and the old dyed parts were looking dodgy on me. :D

    3. Hair likes?
    > still trying to figure this out but I know that it doesn't like too much protein and gets overconditioned easily. My hair responds pretty well to gels.

    4. Routine?
    > water wash or co wash every day, condition, rinse upside down and rake through leave in conditoner or curl creme, squeeze some water out, flip hair upright, scrunch in gel and diffuse.

    5. Coloured or natural?
    > Growing out bleached hair - top half is natural (i like to call it ash brown though it's more of a mousy brown lol) and the bottom half is medium to dark blonde.

world of warcraft goldso Fel Stamina helps. Master Summoner is important because many opponents will smartly eliminate the Warlock's pet, negating Soul Link.Unholy Power and Master Demonologist on the fourth and sixth tiers give the pet a bit more utility, which is good since you really want it to be around for the duration of the whole match. world of warcraft goldThis makes the fifth tier talent Demonic Sacrifice, absolutely useless. cheap wow goldBut Warlocks need to pick it up in order to get to Soul Link.wow goldAnd then on the seventh tier there's Demonic Resilience which necessarily contributes to survivability. Demonic Knowledge (is it just me or are there just too many 'demonic' talents?) is pure utility because since the pet needs to be around the whole time, anyway, the Warlock might as well get a bit of punch out of it. wow goldAnd of course, buy wow gold there's Soul Link

    Hey, fellow UK curlies!

    I'm Kate, I'm new.

I've been doing the CG thing for about a week, although I haven't properly started yet. I straightened a few days ago and plan on straightening on NYE, and after that I plan to embrace my curls properly for the first time in years.

Today I co washed with Inecto coconut conditioner, deep conditioned with Naked rescue, put a tiny bit more Inecto in as a leave in, then used Pantene perfect curls mousse and gel spray. My hair has gone super soft and shiny. It's not very curly yet (years of GHDs have made a lasting impression!) but I'm very impressed with the cleanness and texture and shine today. Thought I'd let you know!

I've been experimenting with pinks Boots, Umberto Giannini gel, Trevor Sorbie curl cream and some Little Monsters leave in spray from Superdrug, but today has definitely been my best curly hair day yet!

Sugarbabe1 I buy my KCCC from Curl Mart.

I found this homemade recipe on You Tube.

4 parts Aloe Vera Gel (Holland & Barrettes)
    1 part vegetable glycerin
1 part jojoba oil (or any other oil of your choice)
10 drops of Rose (or any) essential oil

My curls come out beautifully with this recipe. Since it's now freezing outside I also add coconut oil and unrefined shea butter to the recipe because my hair gets so dry.
