If "CurlTalk" has a tiny tm beside it, doesn't it make it illegal for OUIDAD to call her newsletter CurlTalk as well?

Funny, you posted this. When I was reading the newsletter, that's the first thing that I noticed. Maybe Ouidad got authorization to use it?

I very much doubt that. Hopefully, they didn't do it on purpose... it does seem like a logical name to a forum used for talking about curls.

I don't see a tiny TM next to CurlTalk, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I also have a headache/potential migraine so maybe my vision isn't all that great today.

If you go back out to the forum index, it's on the CulrTalk on the top of the page.

A TM means you've applied to make the name, logo, etc. a registered trademark. If you're granted the trademark then the TM becomes an ®.

    Definition from Wikipedia

A trademark or trade mark[1] is a distinctive sign of some kind which is used by an individual, business organization or other legal entity to uniquely identify the source of its products and/or services to consumers, and to distinguish its products or services from those of other entities. A trademark is a type of intellectual property, and typically comprises a name, word, phrase, logo, symbol, design, image, or a combination of these elements. There is also a range of non-conventional trademarks comprising marks which do not fall into these standard categories.
The owner of a registered trademark may commence legal proceedings for trademark infringement to prevent unauthorised use of that trademark.
