What is my curl type? How do I make my roots curly?

I apologize for the grainy photo, but I don't have many pictures of my curls. I'm confused about my curl type, as I have pretty curly hair at the bottom, but at my roots it is straight(if someone could tell me how they fixed this, that would be helpful), which makes identifying my curl type a bit more complicated. I think there is no straight in bottom as i see in this image you comment. It is also curly.

it's probably 2A/2B, it's wavy hair
