What did you do to your hair today? Week of Dec. 11

Thank you to @jeepcurlygurl for keeping up with this thread the past few weeks, and thank you to everyone else for helping to answer questions while I was down.  I'm feeling a little more functional now.

Today was a wash day, and I'm almost out of my favorite gel.  I have enough for maybe 1 or 2 more washes.  But my favorite online store with free shipping is out of stock!  Now I have to figure out whether I should order from someplace else and pay for shipping, or drive across town to buy some at my salon, or try to use up some of my backup gels that I don't like as well.  That last option is what I should do, but they just don't work as well as my UDG.

You are very welcome. I'm glad you are back and I think of you often and hope you are doing ok.

This week I got the huge Best Of box from Influenster so I have a bunch of hair products to try. I already gave away the 3 kinds of dry shampoo since I don't like or use dry shampoo. But there are some other things that I will try and report on.
--I'm located in Western PA.   --I found NC in late 2004, CG since February 2005, joined the forums in May 2005, started going grey in late 2005.   --My hair is 3B with some 3A, currently at mid back length when dry,  texture-medium/fine, porosity-top is low, middle is medium, ends are porous, elasticity-normal.   --My long time favorite products are Suave & VO5 conditioners, LA Looks Sport Gel, coconut oil, honey, vinegar.

Welcome back, @Guide 65! Still keeping you in my prayers and glad to see you back here.

I went a little crazy with the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals and I stocked up on some of my favorites and got some new stuff to try out. But, I'm trying really hard to use up the stuff that I already have before I move on to the new stuff. I struggle with this because there's some stuff that kinda works for me, but I'm not in love with it. It's so frustrating sometimes because one of your favorite brands will come out with a new line that everyone loves and I try it and it's ok, but just doesn't work great for me.I love Camille Rose and wanted to try out their Coconut Water line. I bought the styling cream and the deep conditioner and both were really underwhelming to me. They worked, but not nearly as wonderful as the reviews had made them out to be.  I've finally used up the deep conditioner and now I'm struggling to get through the last little bit of the cream that I have. Hopefully next wash day I'll use it up!

Glad to see you about, Guide. You have most definitely been in my thoughts.
After straightening my hair, it has been a disaster.
First, I clarified with my tea tree shampoo.
Then tried the yogurt power protein treatment from Shea Moisture- love.
First mistake, I rinsed very little out then followed with SM JBCO leave in and SM Curl Enahancing smoothie.
First day was ok. Second, build up city. Not sure if the shampoo didn't rinse all the silicone out or it it was just too much product. Hair is kinda greasy (ew). I plan to cowash tonight as I cowashed my bangs last night and the build up seems gone, so maybe that will help.

Tonight I used dp Hue ACV scalp scrub. I don't usually use scrubs on my scalp because I think they are hard to work with. But I got a sample of this so I tried it. If you don't like the smell of vinegar you won't like this as it does not smell pretty. But it did seem to clean my hair and scalp well. Then I used Garnier Fructis Color Vibrancy Treat hair mask. Not very slippy but it smells good. Then I used AG Re-Coil curl activator that I forgot I had in the cupboard and hadn't used in a long time.  My hair is extra curly and bouncy. I don't remember the Re-Coil having so much hold but it does.

I'm glad you're feeling more functional, @Guide 65. It's nice to have you back.

I washed my hair with my usual low poo yesterday: Intelligent Nutrients Harmonizing poo. I conditioned with the matching conditioner. I used CJ Beauticurls leave-in (a pea-sized amount), Living Proof root lift, and Kenra Ultra Freeze gel. I had really great hair. Second-day hair was so-so.

I'm really liking the Kenra gel. Ulta was out of my usual Kenra gel, so I got the Ultra Freeze one instead. It's a really hard-hold gel. It's a little slimy and sticky and so can be hard to work with, but the results are really good.
Low poo: Intelligent Nutrients (IN) Harmonic; Oribe Cleansing Creme
    RO: IN Harmonic
LI: CJ Beauticurls; Jessicurl (JC) Gelebration Spray
DC: JC Deep Conditioning Treatment; Weleda Rosemary Conditioning Oil
Stylers: JC Confident Coils; IN Volumizing Spray; IN Perfect Hold Hairspray; John Masters Sea Mist; Bumble Bb. Gel; Kenra Firm-Hold Gel; Sevi Blue Yarrow Sea Salt Spray
    Low-porosity 2a/b baby-fine hair

Glad you are doing better, @Guide 65!

I've switched to morning washes last Friday.  My hair is in a good place and can handle to 100% diffuse dries.  And, my curls look better after a fresh diffuse compared to being up overnight.

This morning I decided to use KCKT as my leave in instead of DC One Conditioner in an attempt to get more than one refresh day.  The One Conditioner builds up on my hair too fast and by the end of drying on refresh day 1, I can start to feel the product in my hair.  But using less = less perfect curls.     My hair is defiantly less perfect with the KCKT.   I am probably being overly critical.  We will see how it feels tomorrow.
