How to style short hair?

Hi!
So about 3 years ago I decided to chop my hair off due to extreme damage. Ever since I have had a short haircut, that according to my friends resembles an afro though my hair is 3b/3c and thick. However, throughout these 3 years I have struggled trying to style my hair. I just keep it normal because I don't know what to do with it. Whenever I put a hairband in it, the hairband just disappears. Thus I wondered, does anyone have any styling tips

Welcome! Is your avatar what your hair looks like now? It's a cute cut! You could do some twists, starting at your forehead and twisting backwards a couple inches, to make the front part flat, and then let the rest of your hair poof up behind the twists.

I think folding a square scarf into a headband and tying it so the tails of it hang down a little behind the ear would look really really cute!Current 2B/2C Routine:
