6 yr old son has 3c hair, need advice!!

My son loves his hair and does not want to cut it and neither do I. currently i use a co-wash from as I am once a week. But his hair is constantly frizzy and ends getting matted in the lower back of his head. We've used multiple brands of products but none are working to control the frizz or make it any easier for his morning routines. Any advice on products, styling, and care routines would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are you doing any re-moisturizing in between washes?  You can use a mix of water/conditioner in a spray bottle to dampen the hair daily.  Using a leave-in conditioner after washing should help too.  He should also be doing something to protect his hair at night - wrapping it with a do-rag or something like that.

we have been using the spray bottle with conditioner since this is something i've always done with my own curls and we do use a leave in conditioner after each wash. he doesn't though sleep with anything at night though. His hair goes down to the middle of his back, i don't know if a do-rag would work on him?

If you are using a co-wash and adding extra conditioner between washes, he may have buildup.

I am also guessing he is not sitting around all day, but is out running around and sweating, so he may need a refresh spray that can help with that - maybe even a dry shampoo.

If he were a girl, I would suggest doing a pineapple at night, but I don't know how well a 6 year old boy would like that.  Maybe you can have him flip his hair upside down and plop his hair inside the do-rag, then tie it up.  A buff over his head might work too, although I've heard its hard to get them to stay on over night.  At the very least, you could get him a silk/satin pillowcase, especially if he has his hair loose overnight.

    Sounds like build up.
