Feeling overwhelmed

Hello! My name is Mathis, im 20yo from Sweden. My hair is not in the best condition, its really dry and is pretty frizzy. I should say im not a girl, more of a curlyboy, so i my mother never really thought me how to take care of my hair when i was young. And i always used to have pretty short hair anyways. But the last years ive let it grow out long.
I want to be able to care of it better, but i really just feel extremely overwhelmed by all the information online. I dont know where to start. I feel like im just gonna end up buying products at random. Since i dont know exactly what my hair needs i feel like i would just waste money. So id be very grateful if anyone could help me figure out a plan on how to go about this. At this stage im not really looking for specific recommendations for products, im looking for recommendations on how to figure out what products i need. I kinda like learning how things work and then form my own decisions.
Thank you!
