I have always been very curious about one thing about hair. What is the difference between curls and ringlets? How do ringlets form, and how many inches does it take to form a ringlet?

I think curls are just a general term for any hair that's not straight.  A ringlet is like a big fat spring, and a spiral is like a skinny spring.  How many inches depends on how tight the spiral is.  Great big sausage curls like Shirley Temple will take quite a few inches to form.  But a tight coil can form in very short hair.
