my daughter is 7 and has tight curls since she got hair at 2 yrs old. I think it’s 3C. I’ve spent lots of time trying to learn to care for it, lol. She’s always wanted it long and now it finally is down past mid back when wet. It has taken so long to grow. She still has tight curls around her face and nape of her neck and the lower 4” of her hair, but her crown is just wavy like it is going straight. We love the curls and want to enjoy them as long as possible. Just wondering if I cut a few inches off will her curls spring back to life or is she possibly loosing the curls and if I cut them off they will be gone?

What a cutie!  It looks like her hair is drying out.  Maybe from environmental damage.  Try concentrating more moisture on the canopy, and have her wear hats out in the sun and wind.
