Does curl cream prevent anyone else's hair from drying?

So I have tried 2 curl creams, the sm coconut and hibiscus smoothie and eden body works coconut curl cream, and both times, it doesn't matter how much I use, my hair will. not. dry. Or when it finally dies, it's greasy. Now before you say it's the coconut oil, my low po hair for some reason loves coconut oil. I use coconut curlada conditioner and sm virgin coconut oil deep conditioner and even just coconut oil on my ends for a pre poo. I just don't know if I should keep looking for better curl creams or just live without them? I sm coconut and hibiscus style milk and it work pretty well, but it's not a curl cream. Any suggestions for lighter curl creams/ enhancers or do any of you just not use a curl cream?

I'm not positive, but I wonder if it's the silk protein in the products. Silk protein is a moisturizing protein (it's very small and does a good job at penetrating the hair shaft). This will have the effect of lowering your hair's porosity, which might account for why your hair doesn't dry. I would try looking for a curl cream that has no protein in it.

I've never actually used KCCC. I think it is more akin to a gel than a curl cream. Camille Rose Naturals might have a curl cream that is protein free.

Based on your other thread (I left a response there too), I do think that you are low porosity and that you are sensitive to protein. I would recommend going without protein for a week or two and seeing what happens.

I tried Kinky Curly Curling Custard man years ago.  (I don't use it now, but my problem may have been technique since it was when I first went CG)  There is also a curl cream by MopTop, which you can usually find on Amazon.  Also Curls (curls.biz) makes curl creams.

Sorry I can't offer more information about each product.  I just know they exist.

Are you sure you are not high porosity?

@Therese1 I saw your other response. I'm gonna try no proteins and see what my hair does. I'm really hoping it works and that hair isn't just randomly straight lol. Especially with the rest of my hair being 2b, it just doesn't look right.

I would guess it's the shea butter that's causing that problem.  Try looking for one without shea.  It's heavy and builds up in your hair.  I would suggest trying Deva Curl Styling Cream, but only if you're ok with protein.
