How best to use LA sport gel?

I have 3b, low porosity hair that gets frizzy and dry very quickly. 

I tried a lot of sheamoisture products but found that they just sit on my hair and don't do much. I recently heard about LA sport gel and want to try it. 

Should I do LOG, using SM leave in conditioner and layering with argan oil, and then putting the gel on top of that? 

I'm worried the gel itself wont be enough to give my hair hold, and eliminate frizz? Would LOG even work with my hair?

    I have mostly 3b hair that is low porosity on top (more porous on the ends). I sometimes use oils on the ends but my hair actually frizzes if I use oils on the top. I don't use a leave-in at all. I condition wash my hair, rinse, add LA Looks Sport Gel to soaking wet hair, scrunch and squeeze, and plop in a turban towel.  It has always had good holding power for me. 
    --I'm located in Western PA.   --I found NC in late 2004, CG since February 2005, joined the forums in May 2005, started going grey in late 2005.   --My hair is 3B with some 3A, currently at mid back length when dry,  texture-medium/fine, porosity-top is low, middle is medium, ends are porous, elasticity-normal.   --My long time favorite products are Suave & VO5 conditioners, LA Looks Sport Gel, coconut oil, honey, vinegar.
