Haircuts for growing out short 3a/2c hair?

Last summer, I shaved my head in an attempt to get healthy hair again. It is currently about 5 inches long when straightened, except for in the back where it’s been trimmed to about 2 inches.

It’s currently not so good looking, and ive been braiding back the top layers in an attempt to make the grow out less awkward. Does anyone have any ideas for cuts for 3a/2c hair that will make growing it out less awkward, and look good for the time being?

You should talk to your hair dresser for a good cut. But even so, you will probably have to go through at least one awkward stage before your hair gets to where it is going.

I agree with @bomega. There will be a few hiccups along the way when growing from shaved. When I started to grow out my pixie I had to tweak it along the way. The time goes pretty quickly. ;)

i think braiding back the top layers is a good idea, it can help so many transitions.
as the others have said, time will pass and it will grow.  meanwhile, keep the new hair healthy with conditioning, protein treatments if needed.
also, take photos as you go along so you can actually see your progress, it helps, otherwise we think it's not growing.

    3a, some 2c & 3b, medium texture, porosity normal, low elasticity :-(
