Why do I need a Facebook account to post comments?

I tried to post comments in the comments section under an article . I was logged into my naturallycurl.com account but it required a Facebook account. Why ?

I just looked at an article to see what the comments area looked like. For me I could just type in the comment bar and click Post. Right below the comment bar there is a little box to click so the comment is also added to Facebook, but I never click that.

Must be a glitch here on this end. Hopefully they can fix it soon.

I think right now there is a requirement that article commenters have a FB account. I've got a question in to management about whether that is true and why it is so.

@Gretchen ; I don't ever let anything outside of Facebook connect to it (I have Platforms turned off) so I don't think that can be right. I can comment on articles and it never asks me about Facebook and I never click the box to add comments to Facebook.

@jeepcurlygurl When you comment is it using your Facebook Id or NC Id?  I would like it to be NC since I know your Id.  There are certain members here that I have a lot of respect for and it would help if I see one Id in all NC areas.

Still waiting for the answer to my question. Why can't a comment be posted by people who don't have a Facebook account?

It is my NC id (jeepcurlygurl or jeepy). I don't use my facebook id (which is my real name) here or anywhere else.
I don't understand why some people have to use a facebook account to comment on articles here at NC. I've been commenting on articles since before I had a facebook account and I have never been asked to post via facebook or using my facebook id. I just click Post and it's done.
