Should I wait to co-wash and use leave in until after a haircut?

I'm getting my haircut tomorrow (my first time at an actual salon) but today is normally when I'd wash and condition my hair. Should I go ahead or wait? I've also been playing around with gel and I use a little avocado oil after leave-in. Maybe leave those out? Would it be better to do everything after the cut?

I'm not sure what yhe right answer is. Usually it is good to go in with how yiu regularly wear your hair, so the stylist can see what it looks like. One Devacurl stylist here in PDX defines that as wash day hair. But when I got my Devacut (different stylist), I went with day 3 hair because i was slammed at work and couldnt wash it. She did fine with it. In addition, since you dont wash everyday, they would get to see your hair how it would look in the wild.

Maybe call the salon and see what the stylist wants?

I would probably wash and condition as usual, so the stylist could see how my hair would look on a typical day. After she gets used to your hair, you can come in with it needing to be washed and looking askew and it won't matter. :)

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and washed/conditioned but I left out the gel since I'm still experimenting with that. My appointment's at 2 so we'll see how it goes!

The cut went really well! My hair is shorter than I wanted it but she said she had to cut it short to fix whatever my old barber did last time I got it cut. It looks great and feels so much better now.

I'm so glad you asked this! I have my first ever DevaCut in 2 weeks. My hair hasn't been cut in a year! The stylist was personally recommended by Michelle Breyer to my daughter (at an event she organized) so I trust her, but their website said "little to no product". I tried with no leave-in or gel yesterday and ended up looking like Roseanne Roseannadanna! So I think I'll do your leave-in, no gel and try not to touch it as it dries naturally for 5 hours!

I thought they would wash your hair then cut it?
